Fire Inspector/Public Educator Peter Gripper was our speaker and talked about fire safety. He explained about a grant that the Village received by which all BG residents can receive free smoke detectors for the owner occupied homes. He also advised senior citizens or people with needs get a Life Alert necklace and a Knox Box for your home. It is much cheaper to have a Knox box than have the fire department break down your door to assist you! When you order a Knox Box you tell them what fire department and it gets shipped directly to fire department they come and install it above your door. A limited secure amount of keys are maintained by the fire department. He also suggested having a fire extinguisher in your kitchen, garage, and basement.
