Last week two new members were inducted into our Rotary Club, Elena Kryvenko, sponsored by Deenie, and Randy Young, sponsored by his wife, Cass. We are fortunate to have you in our club! Welcome! President Jason gave us a recap of how well we did at our Bingo fundraiser, and Captain Quack Bill gave us a recap of our success with the duck race. He honored some members with cookies for their efforts in the race. Thanks to all who contributed their time during BG Days. It was a great club effort! Our speaker was Ronnis Oher told us about her company, LifeMaps, where she combines memories for individuals, companies, families, into artistic, hand drawn maps. If you’re looking for a unique, heartfelt gift that blends art, memory, and geography, Ronnis Oher’s LifeMaps are a distinctive choice. https://lifemaps.biz/
Our club committee of Martha, Juliet and Cass are meeting with members of the Arlington Heights Club (the lead club), and the Palatine and River Cities Clubs to plan our walk on October 24, 2026 at 10 am when Rotarians from Zones 25b & 29 will be participating in the World's Largest Polio Walk. District 6440 is encouraging us to be a part of this event with 22 other districts across 13 states and two countries. This will be a fun comunity walk at Lake Arlington to raise awareness of Rotary's End Polio Now campaign and to fundraise for it.
Contact Juliet or Martha to be a part of this great cause! We will be setting up a registration and donation page soon for you and your families to participate!
Stephen and Dan are excited to announce the dates for the next Ak’ Tenamit project: The trip will be Saturday, February 20 through Tuesday, March 2, 2027.
Buffalo Grove Rotarians (and family members) will have priority until May 31, 2026. After that, space will be filled on a first-come first-served basis.
BG Rotarians making their first trip to Ak’ Tenamit are eligible for a club subsidy of up to $1500. Please contact Stephen or Dan to reserve your spot!
Thank you to those club members who continue to contribute to the Buffalo Grove High School Comfort Closet. This is a discreet service at the high school to assist those students who do not experience the privilege of all they need for personal hygiene and care at home due to circumstances. Please keep us in mind for your donations of these new, unused items you may have at home. Such items are: toothbrushes, toothpaste, soap, lotion, feminine products, deodorant, etc. Also, your cash donations to Deenie on their behalf are so appreciated and make a difference in their life. Items are purchased at GiveNKind for pennies on the dollar. Please bring donations to our Rotary meetings and Deenie will collect them.
