Last week our honorary club member, State Senator Adriane Johnson, spoke to us about her experiences representing District 30 in Springfield.  She said that the ideals of Rotary guide her when she is legislating, and she outlined the successes she has had in passing bills and why they are beneficial to her district and the people of Illinois.  We are fortunate to have her as an honorary member of our club and as a senator representing many of us in our club.

  

See you (in costume) at the Bowling with Buddies event at Bowlero at 5 pm on Wednesday, Oct. 25th!  It is always a great, rewarding event!

On Saturday, we had a great turnout of our members and members from the Arlington Heights Club to install landscape plants at St. Anne's Home, a facility owned by Maryville Academy to house unaccompanied female migrants from ages 12 to 17 who will move into the facility in mid-November.  Jeff Weiss designed and ordered the plants that both clubs funded.  As Maryville's Executive Director wrote to Jeff: "What a beautiful surprise awaits the residents now and next Spring when everything starts to bloom!"  She was very appreciative of all of our hard work.

On Sunday, several members of our club attended an event, and did some planting, at Reiner Park where Nicor Gas presented Morton Arboretum with a check to be distributed to ten different communities, and Buffalo Grove Park District was a recipient of $10,000 to enhance the arboretum at Reiner Park.  In the past, our club has donated funds for planting 75 trees, plants for the swale and woodlands, and money for the fishing pier.  Signage will be added in the future at this park to identify the "Rotary Grove" and our contributions.
