Rotary Club of Buffalo Grove
The Original Social Network
The Rotary Club of Buffalo Grove, chartered in 1974, is made up of more than 50 local business and civic leaders who want to give back to our community and to improve world health and welfare while promoting peace. As a club, we raise funds to support different agencies, including local scouts, Special Leisure Services Foundation, PADS, Omni Youth Services, and Special Olympics, to name but a few. You may have visited our Bingo tent, enjoyed our duck race, or watched us march in the parade during the B.G. Days community celebration. We give out food donations during Thanksgiving season, and we initiate programs to promote literacy.
Our Rotary club has also supported worldwide programs. Our members have traveled across the globe to participate in the worldwide polio eradication program that Rotary International began in 1985. For ten years we have sent club members to Guatemala to volunteer at the Ak’Tenamit boarding school for boys and girls. We sponsor two Interact clubs, one at Stevenson High School, and one at Buffalo Grove High School. Interact gives young people an opportunity to participate in fun, meaningful service projects while developing leadership skills and meeting new friends. Our club is hosting an incoming youth exchange student from Poland this year, and will sponsor one American outbound student. We also send high school students to a RYLA, a four day leadership camp run by our Rotary District.
