Micro-Credit Privacy Policy
Barrington Breakfast Rotary Club (the “Club”) and its affiliates respect the privacy and security of your non-public personal information (“Personal Information”) and protecting your Personal Information is one of our top priorities. This Privacy Statement explains the Club’s privacy practices, including how we use the Personal Information we receive from you and from other specified sources, and to whom it may be disclosed. The Club follows the privacy practices described in this Privacy Statement and depending on the business performed, may share information as described herein.
During the ordinary course of the operation of the “Breakfast Rotary Micro-loan Program,” information is compiled and maintained in our records with respect to prospective Applicants, and former or current clients. The collection of information provides data that is necessary and useful in reviewing applications for assistance in obtaining loans and/or services. The provision of information requested is voluntary. However, without such information the ability to complete a review or to provide the requested assistance in obtaining loans and/or services is hindered.
The Club may collect “nonpublic personal information” about you from the following sources:
- Information provided to us on applications, or other forms. Types of information include name, address, social security number, income information, employment, assets, and personal debt information; and
- Information from a consumer reporting agency as provided to us by the Barrington Bank & Trust, N.A. (the “Bank”); and
- Information from background check as provided to us by the Barrington Police Department; and
- Information we receive as a result of verifying client information.
Nonpublic personal information is the information that is not available publicly and that we obtain in connection with providing a financial product or service to you. Nonpublic information does not include information that is available from public sources such as telephone directories, federal, state or local government records and real estate records.
Such nonpublic personal information is generally treated as confidential by the Club and is not shared with third parties except that unless you otherwise advise us in writing, your application for a loan and/or other financial services shall constitute your consent for the Club to publish from time to time such information as (1) the names of current or former clients, (2) Title and nature of business venture funded, (3) the amount and terms of the loan and (4) photographs of you.
The Club does not sell or disclose nonpublic personal information about our Applicants or current or former clients to anyone or disclose that information to anyone, except as permitted by law. In circumstances permitted by law, the Club may share information with nonaffiliated third parties. These may include but are not limited to the following:
With other financial institutions or selected credit reporting agencies;
- As required by either federal or state laws, such as in responding to a subpoena and summons;
The Club restricts access to nonpublic personal information about you only to those Club members who must know your information to provide services and products to you. The Club will afford you the right to access your personal information under certain circumstances to find out to whom your personal information has been disclosed, and request correction or deletion of your personal information.
During the loan application, evaluation and approval process (“the loan process”) certain club members will need to view nonpublic personal information. These club members have agreed to treat all nonpublic personal information obtained during the loan process as confidential and have agreed not to disclose such nonpublic personal information, except as set forth in this document. .
This Privacy Statement may be amended from time to time consistent with applicable privacy laws. When we amend this Privacy Statement, we will post a notice of such changes on our website. The Effective Date of this Privacy Statement, as stated above, indicates the last time this Privacy Statement was revised or materially changed.
For your protection, all requests made pursuant to this Privacy Statement must be in writing directed to the Privacy Officer, c/o the President of the Club at its current address, and must include evidence to establish your identity.
