Rotarians and Friends,

It seems as though we were just celebrating a Chicago World Series win--and here it is opening week of the baseball season! Let's hope that either the Cubs or White Sox find themselves in the World Series again this year.

Rendezvous. I'm sure you've heard that it is just around the corner. I can't stress how important it is to support this fundraiser. It provides the dollars we use to support our causes. Please, please, please purchase event tickets and 50/50 raffle tickets. Rendezvous will be held on Sat., April 22 at Lake Barrington Shores. Looking forward to seeing everyone there.

Spring is a busy season for us. The District Conference is April 28-30 at the Marriott in Lincolnshire. KidFest is on May 6 (May 7 is the rain date). Then, we take a short rest before the International Conference in Atlanta from June 10-14. The delegation from Taiwan will visit us after the International Conference as part of a friendship exchange. Whew!!! We are a busy group.

This week will induct Pastor Joe Dorociak. Also, Jim Otis will give his classification talk. These presentations are a great way to learn more about our fellow members.  Louis will greet you, Mark Gibson will take minutes and Gillett will entertain us with fun and frolic.

See you all tomorrow morning.

Multumesc (thank you in Romanian),
Maria

At our January 12, 2017 Club Meeting

Our Barrington Breakfast Rotary Meeting featured guest speaker Steven Stitle, who spoke with us about his long time involvement with the Central States Ferrari Club.
Steve Stitle grew up in the Detroit suburbs.  His father worked for GM as a pilot and his father-in-law ( who he met while in high school)!was a Chevrolet engineer.  He developed an interest in sports cars and while in high school obtained his first, an Austin-Healy 100-6.   After completion of graduate school, he worked for the Ford Motor Co. at the Rouge Complex in Dearborn, Mi.  After a transfer to the Chicago area in 1981, he had enough garage space here in Barrington to start his hobby of sports car collecting.  He is a member of 5 different automotive organizations and has been treasurer of the Central States Ferrari Club.  He writes articles on automobiles for several magazines.
