Our honored club member Narayan Murarka speaks with us about the Sunnyhill School and Guatemala Projects.

Narayan Announced that the Guatemala Club we have worked with for 5 years on Mechanical Cow and Fresh Water projects, is co-sponsoring a global grant with BBRC. Additional funds will also come from the Rotary Foundation. The total amount will be $35K and will be applied toward the Sunnyhill new concept library project.

District 220 has also raised approximately $70K for a current total of $105K.  The project stills needs more funding but it certainly is a great start to the final goal.

     GUEST SPEAKER CHASE BREIMIER
Long time club member Jim Otis introduces BHS Interact club member Chase Breimier.  Both Jim & Chase spoke to our membership.

Chase is a member of the BHS Interact Club.  He started a project called reminiscing Rhythms where Chase went to senior home and used music to bring back memories. Chase worked with club member Joyce Palmquist on the project.

Chase started a project called intergenerational conversations. Chase and club member Trudy Wehren interviewed seniors, to provide permanent life story records for their families.

Chase was also a part of our Guatemala project where he visited 50 patients every day at the local Guatemalan clinics.  He also assisted in putting together a $12K grant that was approved.  The grant money is going toward test & diagnostic equipment, and is process of being purchased.

Todd grew up in South Suburban Glenwood, IL where he attended Homewood Schools and is a graduate of Homewood-Flossmoor High School. He attended Principia College and received a Bachelor’s Degree in English.  Todd also graduated from DePaul University after earning his Master’s Degree in Accounting.

TAIWANESE FRIENDSHIP EXCHANGE JUNE 15-19

BBRC is engaged in the exciting opportunity of co-sponsoring the Friendship Exchange with the Rotary Club of Schaumburg-Hoffman Estates.  As such, we have shared in hosting responsibilities..

The Welcome Party is hosted by BBRC, and all District Rotarians including  Schaumburg Rotarians wishing to attend, had the opportunity to sign up on the District Web site and pay the $20 fee.  BBRC Rotarians do not pay as this is a regular meeting of BBRC.  However, BBRC guests pay $10.  An Evite was sent to BBRC Rotarians to track how many BRC Rotarians and guests plan to attend.

The Farewell Party is hosted  by the The Schaumburg-Hoffman Estates club  and likewise there was a District registration set  up to allow any District Rotarians including BBRC members to register and pay the $20. fee.

Both District registrations are now closed.

The June 15th BBRC meeting will begin at  6:00 Pm at the Lodge, Lake Barrington Shores. with music by Second Wind (Joyce Palmquist) beginning at 5:30 pm.  Plan to arrive to hear the music!
