    This week our speaker will be Sean Casten, candidate for congress. The following week will be Kyle Kick from the Barrington Be Strong Together program, a community collaborative program  to enhance the mental health and wellness of our youth
     Remember that  speakers and their programs and messages are also a membership opportunity.  Invite  personal and business friends to whom those persons and subject matter would be of particular interest .

You will see the lyric opera local chapter event on our website -click on it to purchase tickets. Support your club in this new venue and opportunity for expanding our visibility while enjoying a great musical event. Inform your friends and neighbors. Seating is limited so don't wait.

Word of the day: regarding listening to understand.

We would continue to collect fund to help Ron Hamelberg to reach Major Donor status for remainder of this month.

Happy Anniversary to Pastor Joe, Lee and Keith.

Board adopted the reflection in place of invocation.

Extra time will be needed to use the bus as O’Hare overhead train from parking lot E will not be available M-F thru the winter.

Deer Park has a Recycle day to collect electronics and shedding paper on Sept 22.  Bring food for their pantry.

Sign up online to the Lyric Opera concert and luncheon on Sept 23.  Seating is limited.

BBRC 30th anniversary is now in place for Oct 16 @5 pm at Francesas'.

At Marco Island, the small sand dollar reminds the once a month beach clean up event and plastic straw are frequently found. Multiple hotels and restaurant are pledged to eliminate plastic straws.  Look for beach communities and area rotary clubs projects that you can participate in to improve our community.

 

Kris: Spoke for Lew about the fellowship opportunity in Lake Geneva in late Sept, or early Oct. Minimum weight for zipping is 70 lbs.

Also for the opportunity to participate in home construction project in McHenry county.

 

Pat:Need volunteers to direct the traffic on Sept 22-23 for Art in the Barn fund raiser for Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital. Thank Jack for providing online sign up.

 

Joyce:Thank BBRC 6-8 volunteers in helping out at the annual Senior citizen picnic last Monday.

 

Joe:Hwy 14 will be resurfaced in September.  Traffic  can be an issue between Hart road and Lake Cook.

 

Sam Martinez:Spoke briefly about her Rotary experience and availability to our club as AG under the leadership of Julie Clark.

 

Speaker: Julie Clark, 6440 Governor

Our governor spoke about her 15 years as a Rotarian and devoted 7 years in training/education area.

Delighted to have BBRC members participating in district level activites:  Kris Young as as AG and Susie Whipple in Youth Exchange program 

Most enjoyable projects were in decorating vehicle and doing random act of kindness in Rockford-Elgin also in reading books & service work at Cleveland.

Cited RI president Barry Rassin theme: Be the inspiration with our words and actions for everyone.

Praised Narayan for his recognition as RI Cadre; a designated person with skill and experience in Water and Sanitation area.

Bring more young people between 18 and 31 into community such as the Rotaract at Harper college.  Empower the young and forward thinking with flexibility to accommodate their needs.

Oct 20 Rotary Summit at Harper college focusing on membership, public image and RI projects.

Feb 17, 2019, District and Global projects

May 3-4, District conference at Schaumburg Hyatt, to encourage participation with reduced cost.

Nov 10 Youth assembly at Arlington Heights, With Interact to focus on education and youth activities.

Promote the concept of Satellite club to allow flexibility in meeting time and venue, without limit on age, allow independence in running the club and involve fund raising with the sponsor club.   Can start with 8 people and when it reaches 25, it will be an independent club.

Sam Martinez: To minimize the expense of a Satellite Club, the only expense is district due and RI due.

Speak highly of Rotary Exchange Program.

After 2 years as a Rotary member, Julie joined committee in major fund raising and opened her vision when she started talking to the public about Rotary club.  She received warm support from Rotarians when she went thru the breast cancer treatment

Bruce: Brags about the help from Debbie and Mary in packing and getting ready to move to LBS.

Suzanne: Thank Kris and Mike for ringside seat at the Air and Water show.

Joe: Bitter sweet experience as empty nester in helping daughter move to Univ of Iowa.

Fun & Frolic

Rotary Magazine provides fun experience in traveling. Our next RI convention is in Hamburg, Germany, June 1-5,  2019.

Maria Peterson: Sometimes we are just a few month behind in reading the magazine.
