JOE CONNELLY

Why did you join Rotary?

I first became interested in Rotary when I was transferred to BMO Harris Bank on Grove Avenue in Barrington and became very involved in the community.
I was very impressed with the Rotary International Project of Polio Eradication.
Equally awesome were all of the locally sponsored projects that were "hands on".

What experiences/ projects/ events have you most enjoyed and/or gained the most from your participation?

I have had the good fortune of participating in most of the Rotary functions.
I was a two consecutive term President of the Barrington Rotary Noon Club and Treasurer numerous years between the Noon and Breakfast Clubs.
I started out with the Noon Club, and when I returned back to BMO Harris Barrington from working for the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC), I transferred to the Breakfast Club.
I knew most of the Breakfast Club members from attendance make ups and working on joint projects between the Noon and Breakfast Clubs.

What three things do your enjoy doing in your "free" time?

Since I am recently retired, I have a bit more time than I was ever used to.
I have three very important women in my life - my lovely bride Kathleen (I met her in the Barrington Rotary Noon Club), my college student daughter, Caroline (University of Iowa), and my mother (just turned ninety two!) to round out my character!
I enjoy family, friends, home projects. travelling and Rotary.
