Guest Speaker:  Personal Energy Efficiency.  By Susan Lincke, PhD

Dr. Lincke gave us statistics on how research into better energy efficiency and using renewable energy as much as possible can have a large effect on our ability to have more energy available overall.  She used her own experiences of measuring energy savings by changing the energy systems in her older home in Wisconsin.  She shared how much energy was being used before and after the changes she made. She demonstrated a significant reduction in energy usage.  A few of her suggestions:
Use electric energy because it is trackable - gas is not
Update older homes insulation etc.,
New homes are more efficient
Turn down your heat to 60 degrees at night and when not home
Top four uses of electricity are: water, heating, space cooling,
Do an energy audit of your home and get data about your used
Amtrak and buses are more efficient than using cars
Hybrid cars are better for the environment
Use renewable energy for your home: sun panels etc.
Update your furnace
Insulate your walls well
Plant trees to shade your house
