The Barrington Noon Rotary hosted the 5th annual luncheon honoring local first responders at the Barrington Public Safety Building on Tuesday, September 6, 2016.

This annual event, championed by Joe Kelsch, is an opportunity for the Rotarians to express their gratitude to the police and fire fighters who put their lives at risk daily, for our safety.

Barrington Noon Rotarian President, Anne Kristufek, welcomed everyone and gave a history of all that took place on September 11th, 2001 and the aftermath.

Dr. Samira 'Sami' El-Yasir of the Community Church of Barrington had the Rotarians, fire and police personnel join hands to come together in a prayer of unity and blessings for safety. She expressed the importance of support of one another during the current unsettling and scary period of time.

This annual event allows the Rotarians to get to know those who are ready everyday to respond to incidents, accidents and threats.

The Village of Barrington also has an event planned at Memorial Park (on Hough Street across from Hough School) at 10:00am Sunday to commemorate the 15th annual anniversary of the 9/11 attacks.
