Today Janet Agnoletti, Executive Director from the Barrington Area Council of Governments talked about our areas water supply.
The entire BACOG area (or “greater Barrington area”) relies on groundwater drawn from wells for drinking water. There are approximately 7800 wells in the area, and 98% of those are private wells on private properties. BACOG has been working to identify the quantity, quality, vulnerability, and sustainability of our area’s water supply for over a decade, as a deteriorating water supply could affect residents’ pocketbooks and property values.  The data produced by BACOG’s newest program, the monitoring of aquifer water levels, will demonstrate any trends in water level changes, which is essential to taking action to protect our groundwater.  For more information please visit
