I hope you all had a healthy, happy, safe holiday season. Does anyone have a crystal ball that can predict what 2021 will look like? Regardless of the measures being taken to manage COVID-19, hopefully our very smart, creative club members can rise above the current pandemic situation and show the community that we are a vibrant organization with a goal of service over self.

Curious about the financials of the Virtual Santa run? Our club meeting on Thursday, 1/14 is a Club Assembly when we share various topics of club business. Plan to attend for a review of the Santa Run financials.
Our January 14 club meeting will also be the Annual Member Meeting during which we will vote on the board for the next Rotary year. Please plan to attend.
Club Meeting Thursday, 1/7/2021
Our speakers this week will be Jean Schlinkmann, Bill Kelley and Pat Groenewold from the Schaumburg- Hoffman Estates Rotary Club. They will give us a status report on their ACES global grant program. Our club has supported their grant program in the past both financially and with volunteer mentors. The latest round of scholarships under the global grant are being announced soon. We can expect them to ask for some volunteer mentors. The mentoring process is not complicated. Mentors serve as sounding boards, and encouragers to the scholarship recipients. COVID-19 has not been a deterrent to the mentoring process. Mentors do not have to be Rotarians. Do you think your spouse/partner would make a good mentor? Invite them to join our meeting on the 14th.
Getting to Know You...Again
Our GTKYA speaker this week is Bill Hoff. These have been fun ways to reconnect with some long-time members. Don't miss this.
Who needs another Zoom meeting? No one!
We are pretty sure no one is raising their hand right now. However, we also expect that some people are experiencing some level of boredom and loneliness. How much NetFlix can we really watch? Our Zoom holiday party was really fun. Look for an email later this week with a short survey on the kinds of things that might cause you to voluntarily add another Zoom to your month. This would be purely social. We are thinking about on-line games that could include family members. Possibly another wine or beer tasting.
