Who is John Hewko?
This might be a good Rotary trivia question. Answer: John Hewko is the RI General Secretary. He is the highest level RI employee. We hear so much every year from and about the RI President, but less from high level Rotary staff. You should have received an email from Hewko within the last few days requesting your participation in the 2020 Rotary Member Census. The deadline is Friday, 1/15. Please take the time to participate.
Additionally, last week Hewko spoke via Zoom to 1200 Rotarians giving his thoughts on the future of Rotary. The link here will take you to that presentation.
Club Meeting January 7, 2021
Our first club meeting of the new calendar year brought a contingent from the Schaumburg-Hoffman Rotary Club giving us an update on their very successful ACE global grant. The link to that presentation can be found here. The new group of scholarship recipients under the grant consists of 31 students. Since each student gets a mentor, 31 mentors are needed. The mentoring program is not complicated or time consuming. If you would be interested in being involved, email Pat Groenewald of their club at groenewp@aol.com.

Club Meeting January 14, 2021
This Thursday we will hold our Annual Member Meeting when we vote for the slate of officers for the next Rotary year. You will find the list below for your review in advance of the meeting. If you have any questions or concerns about the list in advance of the meeting, please reach out to Ben Weaver, who, as Immediate Past President, is responsible for this process. Thursday will also be our quarterly Club Assembly where you will hear reports of various club activities. Please plan to attend this important meeting.
Another important reason to attend Thursday's meeting is that our GTKYA speaker will be Wendy Davis! You won't want to miss that.

Beginning this week there will be a Rotary PSA on local Chicagoland tv stations. Use this link to watch it. At the end, interested viewers will be told to go
www.ChicagolandRotary.org, which helps them find a nearby club in 6450 (via a club list of suburbs and neighborhoods) or 6440 (via our club spotter map). Each click here gives them details and a website link for the club they want to see. And scrolling down the landing page further is a Contact section which will send an email to Richard Brill the District PI Chair who will pass it to the right club.
