I hope you and all of your loved ones are safe & healthy. Over the past couple of weeks I've missed our weekly meetings and look forward to getting together with everyone soon.
Until then, we have technology! Our first Zoom meeting will start soon. For those interested in learning more about Zoom, Linda & Betsy will conduct small training sessions next week.
Hopefully our online meetings will be as productive and informational as our weekly lunches. It won't quite be the same, but it will be a chance to get together.
I can't wait to share a delicious lunch with everyone at Palm Court soon. Until then, I'll see you online.
Announcements
We're going digital! That's right. As Ben mentioned above,we're going to hold our first Thursday Zoom meeting next week on April 2.
Some of you are probably well versed with Zoom, but for anyone who is not, or who needs a refresher, we will be holding 30 minute Zoom refresher courses next Monday and Tuesday. We'd like to keep attendance at these courses manageable and balanced out, so we're asking you to register. Click on one of the links at the left to register, and then we'll send you the link to join. You don't need to have a Zoom account to sign up, and you can participate with your smart phone, your tablet, or your computer.
Club Members have already donated $3300 dollars to organizations impacted by COVID-19. Way to go Rotarians! This amount will be matched by RCAH through the Community Service budget. The deadline for matching funds is April 7. Click here if you missed the letter from Karen Baker and the Community Service Committee explaining how this program works.
The need for social distancing may have changed the way we gathered and assembled items for the Wings Easter Basket project, but it didn't stop Rotarians. Thanks to everyone who contributed. Here's a picture of the finished baskets.
Happy Anniversary to Us!
On March 28, 1956, the Rotary Club of Arlington Heights was officially chartered.
Village President Tom Hayes gave a good-humored and informative presentation to a combined Rotary and Chamber of Commerce meeting Thursday, but started with an update on the virus situation. "It's a very interesting time to be living in Arlington Heights and in this country in general," Hayes said. "(The coronavirus is) something that is on everyone's mind for obvious reasons today." He announced the closing of the Sr. Center, but encouraged us to continue "living life" with situational awareness and adjusting as required of us. For the story reporting his comments, click here. To view his slides, click Read more.
