Service Above Self- Locally and Internationally
March 19, 2024.  In what has become an annual tradition, Arlington Heights Rotarians donated Easter baskets to W.I.N.G.S.  Kari Koebernick played the role of the Easter Bunny- collecting and delivering everything.  It's a good thing she has a big car!  It looks like all available space was taken up by baskets.

February 24, 2024   Armed with informative flyers listing essential items in high demand at the Wheeling Township food pantry,  twelve Arlington Heights Rotarians  and spousses urged shoppers at the Vail Street Jewel to consider purchasing one or two items from the list. The response was truly  heartwarming.  In just four hours, the generosity of shoppers led to the complete filling of a large SUV with crucial donations.   To see more pictures, click on the photo above.
February 2, 2024  Our newest club member, Brian Ahern, recently took part in a service mission trip to Bangladesh with Rotaplast International.  Rotaplast International helps children and families worldwide by eliminating the burden of cleft lip and/or palate, burn scarring, and other deformities. Working with local professionals, Rotarians, and other organizations, they  send multidisciplinary medical teams to provide free reconstructive surgery, ancillary treatment, and training for the comprehensive care of these children.  Brian was part of a 20 member team who came together from the US, Canada, Germany, the Netherlands and Egypt.  They worked at the Sylhet Women's Medical College Hospital and provided life changing surgeries for over 80 children.  Pictured above, Brian is exchanging our club flag with the president of the Rotary Club of Jalalabad, and then presenting their flag to Dave Weiner.  Pictured below is a photo of the celebration ceremony held at the end of the week.
Feb. 1, 2024   Today's vision screening for low income children was a joint effort supported by Jim Ray of our club,  the Arlington Heights Lions Club and Walmart.  Working together we were able to provide screening and glasses, not to mention big smiles.
January 25, 2024   RCAH member, Dr. Maggie Albert conducted vision exams for low-income children at Sanborn School in Palatine with the assistance of fellow Rotary members.  Through a collaborative partnership with Walmart, the children were also able to select glasses and are very happy to be able to see clearly!

Club News
March 23, 2024.  This year's Spring Fling actually coincided with the beginning of Spring.  Although the weather was not exactly springlike, that didn't matter as club members and spouses gathered to enjoy dinner and fellowship at Peggy Kinnane's. After dinner everyone walked over to the Metropolis to enjoy a trip down memory lane with Abbey Road.  To see more pictures, click here.
Dec. 14, 2023-  We officially inducted Brian Ahern as our newest member today.  Although new to our club, Brian came to us by way of Rotary clubs in Buffalo and Boston, and has already been an active volunteer with many of our service projects.  He will be a great addition to our club.
December 14, 2023   At our final meeting of the year, our guest speaker was John Scaletta who was honored with a Paul Harris Fellowship +1 pin for his contributions on the Village board and throughout the community.  John also served as this year's Duffer, and is one of the reasons it was such a successful event.  And if you missed John's presentation on his experience with movie theaters, you can watch it by clicking here.
