RCAH Club Meeting June 4, 2026

Information about Safe Families: Our chapter serves Northwest Cook County, Lake, and McHenry County, and there are several meaningful ways to get involved with Safe Families. One of the key roles we are seeking is Family Friends—volunteers who walk alongside parents living in isolation and provide wraparound support. Family Friends can also assist host families by babysitting or delivering meals to those who are opening their homes to children in need.  

 

We are also looking for host families who can temporarily care for children while their parents navigate crises such as homelessness, domestic violence, or substance abuse. Our mission is to keep children out of foster care by providing a safe, nurturing environment during these challenging times. Referrals for support come from hospitals, homeless shelters, schools, and other social services.  

 

With the help of Safe Families, parents are able to work through their crises with the guidance of a family coach and remain in custody of their children while rebuilding stability in their lives.
