Two of this year's grant recipients will speak. Lynn Cannon will present on behalf of North Shore Center for the Performing Arts in Skokie discussing their programming including the North Shore Center Youth Theatre show and the upcoming spring program. Haley Hansen, Senior Clinical Program Supervisor of Behavioral Health Programs at Metropolitan Family Services will speak about how the organization has used the club's grant.

Our club has such an active spring/summer season with lots of activities coming up .... so I want to share with you a quick update on all of our upcoming events.

SERVICE PROJECT:Thursday, April 11th @ 5:30 - 6:30 p.m.
Litter pick-up along our adopted street! We'll gather at the Dunkin' Donuts at Main Street & Skokie Blvd and walk up and down our portion of Main Street gathering trash starting at 5:30 p.m. This one is dependent on the weather – please let me know if you're joining us and I'll keep you posted.
SERVICE PROJECT:Saturday, May 4th @ 10 - 11:30 a.m.
Donated diaper bundling! We'll gather at First United Methodist Church in Evanston, 516 Church Street (parking garage right across the street), preparing bundles of diapers for the Bundled Blessings Diaper Bank. This charitable organization has been one of our club's grant recipients.
SERVICE PROJECT:Ongoing
Food delivery to the Niles Township Food Pantry from Trader Joe's, 1211 Chicago Ave. in Evanston. There is an online sign-up form for this, with dates available on Tuesday mornings and Saturday and Sunday evenings. A great way to help stock our food pantry AND keep good food from ending up in the trash. This requires an SUV or similar vehicle and the ability to load your car with whatever Trader Joe's provides. Pick up and delivery times are very specific. For info and to access the sign up form, click HEREplease.
And a few other dates to remember:
Saturday, April 20- District Conference at Rotary International - for info, click HERE please. I'll be there helping with the service project for the day, bundling toiletry kits for Connections for the Homeless. Registration required, fee $95.
May 18 & 19- our Rotary booth will need staffing at the Festival of Cultures
Saturday, June 8 - Bowling Fundraiser - volunteers needed all day starting at 7:30 a.m. at Classic Bowl in Morton Grove. Can you join in for a morning or afternoon shift? Lots of help is needed!
Thursday, July 4- Skokie Parade - we need a few more volunteers from our club to help support the parade, direct traffic, etc. So far we have Jen, Samina, Evan, Dick W., and Heather and her family.... can anyone else join us either 8:00-11:00 or 11:00-2:00? If we can gather enough volunteers, our participation will secure for our club a generous donation of $1000 to support our community efforts!
Sunday, August 25 - Pancake Breakfast Fundraiser - again, all hands on deck!
Finally, just following up from this week's meeting....
Barbara, our grants chair, has released this year's grant application form which I am attaching to this email. This is the grant program that annually provides funding to several local non-profit organizations serving Skokie, Niles, Morton Grove, and Lincolnwood. Applications are due onMay 15. Please feel free to share the application with any interested 501(c)3 organizations.
