A Message From Past President Jonathan Lavin:
A new committee was established at the annual Cook Out focused on environmental awareness.
In the past, programs on community composting, plastic glut, land fills, gardens, and other practices to support an improved environment have been well received. Jon Lavin was appointed chair of the new committee;
Two years ago, Skokie Valley Rotary created branded cotton bags to promote the reduced use of plastics, especially one time and toss bags. Al Rigoni and Barb Meyer distributed these at the Farmer's Market in Skokie. Those bags were supported with public image district funds as well as Club funds.
The first request now is for Members to support social media for reducing the plastic world wide glut. Please go to "Replace Plastic" on Facebook and show support ("like", "friend," whatever).
And to the Instagram handle: @replaceplasticorg
Please consider joining the new committee - ideas for our action are very welcome.
