Weekly Hybrid Meeting

Next meeting is May 12, 2026.  We will meet in person at Bar Siena (located in the Westfield Old Orchard Shopping Center 4999 Old Orchard Road - Skokie) from 12:00noon-1:15pm. The lunch cost is $25.00 and will cover the meal, non-alcoholic drink (coffee, iced tea, soda pop, or water), tax, and a tip. If you plan on attending, please fill out the form by the end of the day on Sunday, May 10th to ensure efficient service. The restaurant is on the SE side of the mall between Nordstroms & Maggiano's. UPDATE!  Please pre-order your lunch and pay when you arrive for your lunch using Zelle. Bring Cash or check if you can't Zelle. Send your $25 payment to skokierotary@gmail.com.   No walk-in order requests & bring cash if you can't use Zelle. Also, bring cash for the 50/50 raffle to help defer the cost of lunch for our speakers and/or guests.

Staffing Rotary Booth @ Festival of Cultures:
Saturday & Sunday, May 16 & 17
Every year, our club has a booth at Skokie's Festival of Cultures in Oakton Park. Please consider signing up for one or more slots to greet people, share info, and generally represent our club at the booth.  We have slots still available on Sunday. Please click HERE to sign up for a time slot!
 
Serving lunch at A Just Harvest community kitchen:
Sunday, May 31 @ 11:45 a.m.
A Just Harvest community kitchen is located at 7649 N. Paulina St. in Rogers Park. Teens are welcome at A Just Harvest but all volunteers must be at least 12 years old. Our club periodically provides and serves lunch to guests.  Please click HERE to sign up!
 
Clean Up of our Adopted Street:
Monday, June 15 @ 4:00 p.m.  (weather permitting)
A couple times a year, we gather to pick up litter and spruce up our adopted stretch of Main Street!  We will meet at Dunkin, at the corner of Main & Skokie Blvd. Feel free to bring litter grabbers if you have them, but we'll have trash bags and gloves. 
We'll start sign ups for this closer to the date.
 
Food Pantry Pickups at Trader Joe's:
Ongoing: a reminder about our ongoing Trader Joe’s Food Rescue effort.  Our club participates year-round in picking up donated food from Trader Joe’s in Evanston and delivering it to the Niles Township Food Pantry. This is a great way to help stock the food pantry while making sure that good food doesn't go to waste. Specific pick-up times are available via online sign up form HERE.

Hi -
 
We would like to personally extend an invitation to all members of the Skokie Rotary Club to attend a Community Open House next week, where they can get a tour of the farm, mingle with other community leaders, and take part in some refreshments and light bites. Would you please circulate it to the attached flyer through ClubRunner for me? People interested in attending may sign up
 
 
 
While I have you online, do you know any of the administrators at East Prairie School District 73? We have been in touch with a teacher there who is teaching a gardening class but doesn’t have a garden. She doesn’t have a budget for the garden, but they are so close to our farm that they could come and garden at our site. We just have to get a budget approved (about $1000) for transportation and/or to establish a garden either on site or at our farm. It’s really about cutting through the red tape. Any contacts there? 
 
Thank you for helping us out - I hope to see you on Wednesday! I know I’m not always available on Tuesdays but if there’s anything I can do remotely to help plan the pancake breakfast or otherwise help the Rotary Club, please let me know. The farm can also serve as a gathering place for events. And my offer stands to waive any workday fees for the Rotary Club as well.
