Guest Speaker Andy Ullman- January 19, 2016
Guest Speaker Andy Ullman, Rotary Club Member of the Des Planes Club.
Andy Ullman did a presentation of their club RefugeeOne project.

The basic purpose of the project is to sponsor an incoming refugee family and help them to get on a positive path to becoming happy and productive citizens of the US. I started this effort by volunteering as a mentor for some refugees from Congo, and hope to do more to help additional refugees.

The Des Plaines Rotary Club has committed $1,500 to this effort, the Wheeling Club has donated $500, and I have committed an additional $500 personally.  They also have some furniture collected and have access to most of the other goods which will be required to set up an apartment.  Their goal is to get a couple of additional clubs in their District involved, both financially and as helpers/mentors to the family which we will sponsor.  They are hoping to have everything together to sponsor an arriving family sometime in February.
