A Message From Our Service Project Chair, Jennifer Sultz:
Good morning!
We have an exciting new opportunity for a club service project and I would like to get a show of hands to indicate who might be interested in joining in.
Rebuilding Together is a nonprofit agency that works nationwide to make essential home repairs for community members in need. The local chapter is inviting our club to partner with them on a home cleanup project in Skokie.
What's involved: Volunteers do not need to be skilled in construction, just able-bodied and willing to get their hands dirty as we tackle dismantling a simple structure and doing some landscaping work to clean up a front and back yard. Experience with power tools is a plus. The home is occupied but the resident is housebound and in need of assistance. Waivers will need to be signed by all participants in case of injury and so as to allow photos to be taken of the cleanup team.
When: We are looking at Saturday, November 8th from 8:00 am to Noon. Volunteers will need to all arrive at 8:00 to get oriented with the group. Refreshments will be provided, as well as gloves, Rebuilding Together t-shirts, tools, and lunch at the end of the project.
This project requires that we know who is committed to participating beforehand, so please let me know if we can count you in. We are hoping for approximately 8 volunteers on this project.
