First, re: our three community service opportunities....
Sunday, June 30- Soup kitchen service project at A Just Harvest in Rogers Park. Please contact Ross Mathee if you would like to join in on this month's visit to A Just Harvest where we will supply and serve a meal to community members experiencing homelessness. Ross can supply all the details. Ross is at rmathee@wintrust.com.
Thursday, July 4 - Skokie Parade - we need a few more volunteers from our club to help support the parade, direct the traffic of the floats, and generally help out. So far we have Jen, Samina, Evan, Dick W., and Heather and her family.... can anyone else please join us either 8:00-11:00 or 11:00-2:00? If we can gather enough volunteers, our participation will secure for our club a generous donation of $1000 to support our community efforts. Please reply back to Jen to let me know asap if you can join us. THANK YOU!
Ongoing - Food delivery to the Niles Township Food Pantry from Trader Joe's, 1211 Chicago Ave. in Evanston. There is an online sign-up form for this, with dates available on Tuesday mornings and Saturday and Sunday evenings. A great way to help stock our food pantry AND keep good food from ending up in the trash. This requires an SUV or similar vehicle and the ability to load your car with whatever Trader Joe's provides. Next, a few dates to share....
Tuesday, June 18 - We will meet at Bar Siena this week with Dick Witry as our speaker and with a visit from a representative of the Skokie 4th of July Parade. This will be my last lunch meeting as President and I look forward to seeing you all. In the lunch order form that John circulated, several options to pay in advance are listed as we are trying to encourage payment in advance rather than cash at the door.
Please note we will have NO LUNCH meeting on Tuesday 6/25 because.... Monday, June 24 is our Annual Picnic!
Don't miss this fun annual event in Harms Woods where we will welcome our incoming club President, Laurie Flanagan! The picnic will run from 4:30 - 7:30 p.m. in Harms Woods, Grove 5 (in Morton Grove, entrance at Harms Rd. & Old Orchard Rd.)
Friday, June 21 - our club's year-end Board meeting will take place on Zoom at 9:00 a.m. All members are welcome to attend. If you are not on the Board but would like to join us and need the Zoom link, please let me know and I'll be happy to send it to you.
Thursday, July 11 - Incoming Rotary International President Stephanie Urchick is visiting Rotary Headquarters in Evanston and we're invited....details below!
The Rotary Clubs of Evanston, Evanston Nouveau and Evanston Lighthouse are hosting incoming RI President Stephanie Urchick and would love for you and your club members to join us.
When: Thursday, 11 July at 12:00pm (note that we will start the meeting promptly at 12:00pm)
Where: One Rotary Center Auditorium, 1560 Sherman Ave, Evanston
The meeting will be followed by lunch. Depending on the amount of interest, we will also arrange for tours of the exhibit space with Rotary International.
