A Message From Our President:
Hello everyone!
I have an update to share re: our collaborative multi-club mental health grant, jointly funded by the Skokie Valley, Glenview, and Park Ridge clubs and matched by Rotary District 6440.
We have a volunteer service project opportunity to announce for Rotarians in the three clubs!
This grant is supporting the healthy eating therapy groups at Turning Point Behavioral Health and onFriday, May 10th from Noon - 4:00 p.m. we will be hosting a work day in the Turning Point garden, assembling new raised garden beds and preparing the vegetable garden for spring planting. This garden on Turning Point's property is maintained by the clients and the food produced is utilized by the cooking groups which Rotary's grant has helped to support.
We are welcoming the help of any Rotarians from the three clubs. We do need to know how many people to expect, so please RSVP back to me if you plan to attend.
Here is the basic info:
What:Outdoor Garden Work Day
When: Friday, May 10, Noon - 4:00 p.m. (Rotarians are welcome to participate the full time or for only a portion of the afternoon – we are grateful for whatever time you can spare!)
Where:Turning Point Behavioral Health Care Center, 8324 Skokie Blvd., Skokie (garden area is in the SW corner of the parking lot which can be accessed via Washington Street)
What we will be doing: We will be outside assembling new raised garden beds for spring planting. This garden is maintained by Turning Point clients and produces vegetables and herbs used in the therapeutic cooking and nutrition groups. The Rotary multi-club mental health grant has funded new equipment in the client kitchen for these groups. Turning Point is a community mental health center serving children and adults living with mental illness.
What to bring: Please dress for outdoor garden work, bring work gloves, and if anyone can bring their own screwdrivers or electric cordless screwdrivers, that would be helpful.
