Guest Speaker Angela Moy, Mid-USA Falun Dafa Association Cultural Events Coordinator.

Guest Speaker Angela Moy, Cultural Events Coordinator of Mid-USA Falun Dafa Association was the guest speaker at our weekly meeting of September 22, 2015.
Angela spoke about the history of Chinese music and traditional Chinese musical instruments such as, the plucked pipa (lute) and the two-stringed violin.

Angela said that "Chinese music has a history of thousands of years and from the very beginning of the Chinese civilization, music was created for healing.  According to traditional Chinese medicine, human’s major organs are connected to the five elements - wood, fire, earth, metal and water that make up everything in the human world.   A human body’s interactions with the environment – what we look at, listen and feel can affect the health of our organs.  Listening to soothing music can positively impact the organs.  Good music lowers blood pressure, stabilizes heart rate, and relieves stress and anxiety.  Shen Yun Symphony Orchestra specializes in original compositions based on China’s 5,000 years of divinely inspired culture by combining the best of both worlds - the powerful western symphony orchestra and the delicate ancient Chinese instruments such as the 2-string Chinese violin and the Chinese lute".

To experience Shen Yun's harmonious and refreshing music, you are invited to Shen Yun Symphony Orchestra's only concert performance at the Chicago Symphony Center (CSO) on Sunday October 18, 2015 (3pm). CSO is located at 220 S Michigan Ave, Chicago, IL 60604.  Tickets are available at https://tickets.shenyun.com/ or http://cso.org/.
