Good afternoon, fellow Rotarians!
Tomorrow (Tuesday, November 16 at noon) we will have a REMOTE meeting at The Center for the Arts & Sciences' art gallery. If you have never been to The Center, it is on the campus of Brazosport College. If you are traveling in from Lake Jackson on Oyster Creek Drive, go over the railroad track past Buc-ee's, go past the college's main entrance and pull in to the last drive before you get to the bridge over Oyster Creek. Just come into the lobby and you will see the art gallery. Our physical address is 400 College Dr., Clute, TX 77531.
Our guest speaker will be County Commissioner Ryan Cade to give us an update on the county.
OPERATION TURKEY: As mentioned previously, we have secured the commercial kitchen of The Warrior's Refuge to package meals for our local community members in need to ensure that everybody has a hot, nutritious, delicious traditional Thanksgiving dinner. Many thanks to those who have already done so much to help us serve our community this way. Heather Rimato has spearheaded this effort. Jason Hayes has volunteered to smoke and de-bone the turkeys and Ariel Lara has helped us secure The Warrior's Refuge's kitchen to pack and distribute the meals. YOU can sign up to help, too! On Tuesday, we will need someone with a trailer or high-capacity hauling capabilities to bring the turkeys to West Columbia. If possible, we would like to, then, deliver the turkeys to the smokers. We are hoping both those tasks can happen on November 23. However, it may require we split those tasks up over two days. Then, on the morning of November 25, our club will meet up in West Columbia to pack and deliver the meals to both distribution sites and, if possible, individual families. Details are still being worked out, but if you would like to sign up to help, please click on the Operation Turkey link under Upcoming Events and then click the button to sign up for a task/shift.
QUICK REMINDER: There will be no meeting next Tuesday due to the Thanksgiving holiday. Join us for Operation Turkey, instead!
