Last week we got a 20 minute condensed version of the many things Lisa accomplished as club president last year. She did a lot for our club and was recognized at the district level for her efforts. We are blessed to have Lisa. Her talents will not wasted.
As mentioned Tuesday, the board will be voting on a dues increase in our next board meeting. I asked for input from the members considering this issue. The reason for this comes from the District. They have asked that each club raise $10 per year per member so approximately $500,000 can be raised. (This cannot come out of our foundation funds). This money is needed to prepare a package for Chicago to solicit the Rotary International Conference to come to Houston in 2021. It would be a great honor if we can secure this. It is my understanding that there are two cities in the running for that year. The other city is Boston. However, the inside scoop is San Antonio refused to bid on any future conferences until it is held in Houston. So we might have the inside track. If we do not secure the conference, any unspent monies will be donated to our fight against Polio.
If you have an opinion on this increase, feel free to call or email any board member. I will state that we could handle this okay this year but it is getting tight. The board discussion will start with raising the dues $1 per month to cover this need.
Tuesday, Doug Earle will present on The First Tee of Houston. They are a non profit that reach out to our youth and teach them life skills.
More than 200 children learned the importance of safety at home, at school and at play at the 26th annual Safetytown. Special thanks to all our volunteers who helped make this event a fun and exciting learning experience for the kids.
Recently, the Brazosport Rotary club helped move an office from the Dream Center to Christ Lutheran Church. Thank you to all who came out and helped make this a safe and successful move!
It is a pleasure for me to give you the end of the year report of our Club's support for the Rotary Foundation.
Total giving for this Rotary Year which started July 1, 2103 is $31,885
$28,655 was given to the Annual Fund (50% of which comes back to the District in 3 years, funds that we can use to apply for District Grants for local projects).
$3,230 was contributed for the eradication of Polio.
Our per capita giving to the Annual Fund is $325.63 Still among the top in the District.
Our All-Time Giving History -$526,358.91
We are currently a 100% Paul Harris Fellow Club.
We have 6 Major Donors in the Club. ($10,000+cumulative contribution)
We have 9 Paul Harris Society members (those who pledge to give $1,000 or more per year as long as they are able).
Please review the pledge form for this coming Rotary Year. Submit back to me only if you want to make changes in the way you are being billed for your foundation contribution. I do however encourage you to consider increasing your monthly contribution.
Also if anyone is interested in signing up for Rotary Direct, see me. It is painless and simple. You decide the frequency and amount you want TRF to charge your credit card and you enjoy your credit card perks.
Again, thanks for your continued support of OUR foundation. It does make a difference in the lives of the less fortunate.
