We had a great Shrimp Boil & Fish Fry for 2014.  Scott did a great job as did everyone involved.  I want to thank each of you for making it a huge success.  We indeed have a great club.  This club fundraiser continues to grow and impress.  I look forward to Scott letting us know exactly what we did. I am also confident it will keep improving and growing.  Scott set a high mark for future SB chairs.

Today, Randy Webber will be with us.  Rod is getting great presenters and we all know that it is a coup to secure Congressman Webber to speak to our club.  We all need to show up and encourage the membership with your presence and personality.

Our exchange student should be in attendance this week.  Her name is Karin (CAR-in) Boman from Sweden.  From my time I have spent with her, I have found her to be very respectful and polite.  We need to appreciate Diane Glenn, Jim Pierce, and Keith Franks for their work and commitment in youth exchange.  It takes considerable time and training for them to keep us qualified to send and acquire students.

See ya there.

Stories
Thank you so much for all you have been doing to make sure this year's Shrimp Boil is the best ever. With the event just a few days away, I want to make a last-minute appeal for large dollar auction items. At the moment, we are about 15 items short of the number of live auction items we had right before last year's Shrimp Boil. While we have many very nice items, we could use more. There may be a handful of items that are not yet recorded, but not many.

I am especially looking for large equipment items, like lawn mowers, that usually sell quite well, vacation trips, or one-of-a-kind type of items. If no one donates an iPad, I'll buy one of those, as they are always in demand and do well at the auction.

Please make sure you have turned in certificates for any items you've already turned in, and that if you haven't brought the item itself already, you either bring it to Riverplace on Friday after 9:00 a.m. or so, or make arrangements with Doug Raymer.

Thank you,
Lisa

We are almost at the point where we stop counting days and start counting hours until Shrimp Boil. Well, I will be counting the hours at least.

First, we have passed the original sponsorship goal. We are now over $133,000 in total sponsorships. Congratulations and thank you to everyone!

We will continue taking sponsorships through this week's meeting. After that we will accept sponsorships, but I will not be able to guarantee that they will be on the sponsor board. So please, continue to sell as many as you can.

As mentioned, if you have car raffle tickets that you know you will not be selling, please let Keith or I know. I will be glad to pick up tickets if needed or they may be dropped by my office in Richwood (1618 Brazosport Blvd). Unsold tickets are a lost revenue opportunity for the club.

Please continue to spread the word about our auction. The auction committee is working very hard to provide top notch items, but the best items in the world do us no good without quality bidders as well. Stay tuned, we may have some exciting new items to share in the next week. If so we will want the world to know.

I want everyone to know how amazed I am at what our club has accomplished. Seeing our results pushed to new heights is inspirational, and will allow us to do more good in our community than ever.

Thank you for everything that each of you has done and continue to do.

When Friendswood Marine Cpl Steven Schulz came back from Iraq with a severe Traumatic Brain Injury, the community came together to support he and his family.

He has been the recipient of both a highly modified Golf Cart, to assist in his mobility and independence, and later a Mortgage-Free home to accommodate his physical challenges.
Unfortunately, Steven is no longer able to safely use the Golf Cart.

The Schulz Family knows how valuable receiving help is. They also understand that it is more of a blessing to GIVE BACK.

Space Center Rotary Club will be supporting a live auction of this One-Of-A-Kind Golf Cart on Saturday August 30, 2014 5:30pm at T-Bone Toms, 707 Hwy 146, Kemah, TX

ALL proceeds will be donated directly to: Homes 4 Wounded Heros

Below you will find attached a flyer promoting the event, plus 3 photos of the golf cart.

If you can't attend the live auction and would like to make a personal donation to this project, click on the following link: http://militarywarriors.org/raisetheflag/southcentral

Please help us promote this event & share with your friends.

Be sure to mark your calendar for Saturday August 30 at 5:30pm & support Corporal Steven Schultz's efforts to Pay it Forward

Brazosport Rotary Club would like to extend our thanks for the support of the community and our partners. The Annual Shrimp Boil was huge success, raising money that will all go back to serve the good of our neighbors.
