Brazosport Rotary Club Elects Officers for 2024-2025
August 12, 2024 – For the seventy-first time, the Brazosport Rotary Club elected its officers for the 2024-2025 year. The three new office holders were inducted to their respective roles at a ceremony inside the art gallery at the Center for the Arts and Sciences. The new president is Harold Nicoll, president-elect is Lisa Vernor and secretary is Melissa Alexander.
Get to Know Rotary’s New Officers
Harold Nicoll is a native of Lake Jackson, TX. He graduated from Brazoswood High School, the University of Houston and George Washington University. He is retired from The Dow Chemical Company where he worked as a public affairs and marketing communications leader. He continues to work as a freelance public relations consultant and is the owner of SwampButt Underwear. He and his wife Marla live in Lake Jackson, TX.
Lisa Vernor has lived in Lake Jackson, TX for over twenty years. She graduated from the University of South Florida with a degree in early childhood education. After many years of teaching, she now works as a real estate agent for Coldwell Banker Ultimate. Lisa and her husband Jeremy Vernor have two grown daughters.
Melissa Alexander was born in Arizona but identifies as a lifelong Texan as she moved to Lake Jackson in the second grade. After high school, Melissa moved to West Columbia where she resides today. Melissa has two degrees from Brazosport College, a Bachelor of Applied Technology Industrial Management with a Business Management Specialty. She spent 15 years at ConocoPhillips and Phillips 66, respectively. Melissa has three daughters. One is at Baylor University, another studies at Brazosport College; while the youngest is a junior at CBISD. Melissa’s petrochemical industry derived knowledge of safety, construction, and public relations perfectly fit her current role as the Executive Director for HFHSBC.
About the Brazosport Rotary Club
The Brazosport Rotary Club was founded in Freeport, Texas in 1953. Members come from all walks of life but share the club’s ‘service above self’ values and motto. Its annual Shrimp Boil fund raising event is part of the culture in southern Brazoria County.
