Moms Demand Action
Dec. 19, 2019
"Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America was founded by Shannon Watts, from her kitchen counter in Zionsville, IN, after the horrific shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in 2012. Over the past seven years the advocacy group has merged with Mayors Against Illegal Guns to form Everytown for Gun Safety and now has nearly 6 million supporters across the nation in every state and Washington D.C..
As part of educating the public on all causes of gun violence, volunteers with the Be SMART for Kids and "One Thing You Can Do" campaigns present gun safety information to different members and groups of their communities. Firearms are the #1 cause of death for Indiana children and teens. Be SMART encourages those responsible for children and teens to discuss safe behavior around guns and ways to prevent teen suicide, and gives practical examples of how to have those conversations with children, teens, and those responsible for their care. More information can be found at BeSmartForKids.org."

Children's Dispensary and Hospital
Feb. 27, 2020
Beth Harsch has over 20 years of non-profit leadership experience, including working with the Medieval Institute at the University of Notre Dame to host a global conference. She loves this generous community and is passionate about finding ways to make an impact for the greater good. In service to the community, Beth has helped organize community building events like Startup Weekend and co-founded Hack Michiana.
Beth is the Executive Director for the Children’s Dispensary. The Children's Dispensary began in 1909 as a free milk dispensary to serve the needs of undernourished children, soon expanding to care for the medical needs of the community’s children. The Children’s Dispensary now focuses on the social, recreational, and educational needs of children with learning, developmental, and/or physical disabilities.
In her words, “I feel honored to be part of such a wonderful organization with a rich history of caring for the underserved and making a difference in our community since 1909. I believe all individuals are entitled to full life experiences. I'm blessed to be on a great team making that happen.”
