The 38th edition of Sunrise Rotary's Firecracker Run/Walk is back for 2023. That means all three courses will be available - 10K, 5K, and a Kid's 1K Fun Run - and hosted at Harvey West Park. Registration is now open for all events.
The primary beneficiary of this year's Firecracker is Girls Inc. of the Central Coast. Girls Inc. delivers life-changing programs and experiences that equip girls to overcome serious barriers to grow up strong, smart, and bold.

Guest Speaker
Cathy Conway, CEO of Hospice of Santa Cruz County, helped us better understand Hospice, how it works, and how important it is to think of the whole person and those around them as life comes to a close. The services offered include Transitional Care, Palliative Care, Hospice Care, and Grief Support. They have an extensive volunteer program and as a non-profit, provide services and care that exceeds and is better than many for-profit organizations. If you're not familiar with Hospice and missed this month's meeting, it's well worth your time to view the video.

In Case You Missed It
For the second week in a row, we started the meeting with song. This time, Willie Nelson's On The Road Again, led by Dave Campbell on guitar, and Jen Karno, with the appropriate twang. This was Dave's moment of inspiriation in memory of Tom Wichelmann who used to send our bike riders off on their journey by leading everyone in a rendition of On The Road Again. Will we soon be known as the Singing Sunrise Rotarians?

Red Cross Rotary Bootcamp. The American Red Cross is hosting a Rotary Bootcamp at the Silicon Valley Chapter Office on April 1. There will be an overview of needs and opportunities for adults and youth, and upcoming engagement opportunities. If you're interested in attending click here. or contact Camilla Boolootian.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Santa Cruz County (BBBSSC) annual Bowl for Kids’ Sake fundraiser is April 22 and 23. BBBSSC has created a Sunrise registration page and reserved a time for us from 11:45am to 1:00pm on Saturday, April 22. Click the link to sign up as an individual or a team. If spots fill up, more can be added. BBBSSC requests that each bowler donate or raise at least $100 and that each team raise at least $500. Please contact Debra Feldstein with any questions.
RYLA 2023 June 24-29 we have secured 6 camper spots. Registration is mid-March. Club members are invited to nominate someone they know. To learn more, contact Dave Mello.
