Jul 10: Dave Mello & RTYLA
Thanks to Dave Mello’s dedication, Sunrise Rotary ensures that every year several local high school students have a chance to attend the Rotary youth leadership camp, aka Camp RYLA. It’s a well-planned few days where the kids learn about their own leadership potential, make lasting friendships and participate in fun, group bonding activities. For many of them it is a truly transformative experience. Not only will this year’s RYLA students share what the experience meant to them, they will get up at the crack of dawn on a July morning to do so!
Jul 17: Urban Works Santa Cruz
A nonprofit compassionate care organization, Urban Works Santa Cruz provides fun recreation for people with disabilities and their support communities. Their main mission is to provide recreational therapy for adults with developmental disabilities with the goals of increasing activity and building community among our target population, which includes their families and caretakers.

Jul 3: Dave Price
The first meeting of the new Rotary year is for the new President to talk to the club about himself / herself and to give us a preview of coming attractions. Dave did that in spades. He got the party started! For those who missed the meeting, it was highly entertaining and we saw energetic Dave... and boy, did he have energy. He danced, he sang, he ran around, he entertained. The California Ocean Alliance is a non-profit collaboration of scientists, educators, and conservationists committed to the understanding and protection of whales locally and globally.
Jun 19: Matt DeYoung of The Santa Cruz Mountains Trail Stewardship
We heared about the work of the Santa Cruz Mountains Trail Stewardship, building trails and pump tracks in our community as well as their volunteer and youth programming.
Our ROTM's for July are immediate past President Ari Symons and Vice-President Mary Alsip. A huge Rotary thanks to both for their leadership this past year. Pretty awesome how easy they made it look.

Pedal the Pacific - 2 Events
Pedal the Pacific is a leadership development program and fundraising event for college-aged women to recognize the power of their voice in the fight against sex trafficking. The team is raising awareness about sex trafficking while raising funds for anti-trafficking programs across the nation.
Join us for a dinner with the women of Pedal the Pacific at Megan and John Martinelli's home! We will come together to hear stories from the ride, see what the team has learned about sex trafficking along the way, and hear how they've grown as leaders. Please RSVP at this link.

Firecracker was a success!

Our club ran the full Firecracker race on Jul 4th- 10K, 5K, and a Kid's 1K Fun Run. The race was pretty much sold out, with over 700 runners. A good time was had by all. Thanks to all who made it such a success, including the awesome volunteers, the sponsors and all who participated. It takes a village!
