Phil Kramer - Housing Matters
Phil Kramer has been dedicated to creating pathways to housing for individuals and families experiencing homelessness for more
than 10 years. As CEO, Phil leads the non-profit Housing Matters team to identify solutions to homelessness, develop creative housing plans, and lead system-change efforts that lead to stable, permanent housing for individuals and families.
Homelessness is a complex subject fraught with assumptions and misconceptions but Phil showed clearly through data and years of experience that there is real understanding of how to address homelessness in the community and nationally.
Keys to success are understanding who the homeless are and why they are homeless, providing housing first (in advance of treatment or interventions), and providing wrap-around personalized support. Underpinning these efforts is a solid foundation of compassion.
Housing Matter's impact in Santa Cruz County is significant. In 2022 they helped house 188 households composed of 317 people, increased support service staffing, launched a new Housing and Disability Advocacy program to support people with physical disabilities, and developed internal capacity to do MediCal billing will will free additional dollars to support Housing Matter's efforts. Red Cross Rotary Bootcamp. The American Red Cross is hosting a Rotary Bootcamp at the Silicon Valley Chapter Office on April 1. Big Brothers Big Sisters of Santa Cruz County (BBBSSC) annual Bowl for Kids’ Sake fundraiser is April 22 and 23. BBBSSC has created a Sunrise registration page and reserved a time for us from 11:45am to 1:00pm on Saturday, April 22. Click the link to sign up as an individual or a team. If spots fill up, more can be added. BBBSSC requests that each bowler donate or raise at least $100 and that each team raise at least $500. Please contact Debra Feldstein with any questions.
RYLA 2023 June 24-29 we have secured 6 camper spots. Registration is mid-March. Club members are invited to nominate someone they know. To learn more, contact Dave Mello.
