Peter Truman officially became the 34th President of the Santa Cruz Rotary Club on July 12, 2019.    During a lively early morning Board meeting, former President Camilla Boolootian, passed the gavel to Peter.   Camilla served as the 2018-19 President and was instrumental in leading the club to raise over $150,000 to support local and international projects focused on helping others.  Camilla's trademarks during her time were "relentless service" and "continual appreciation of others."  Her cheerful attitude and "can-do" spirit created an environment of support and goodwill throughout her tenure.  During the transition meeting, Camilla spoke highly of Peter. "We are so excited to have Peter as our new President. He is highly regarded, lots of fun, and will inspire and help connect us to Rotary and the amazing work that our club does in the community.  It's going to be a great year."

 

 

In preparation for his new role, Peter attended the Rotary International Convention in Hamburg, Germany.   He expressed how impressed he was with the scope and the reach of Rotary. He was also excited about the ability to network with clubs from all over the world.  His platform for the upcoming year is to support the national theme of "Rotary Connects the World."  At a recent meeting, Peter encouraged members to continue to do the "good work" that Sunrise is known for and to support the fundraising and other club activities throughout the year.  He also recently made a special announcement about the return of the annual golf tournament scheduled for Spring, 2020 ...  with a twist ... this year's tournament will be a Miniature Golf Tournament!   This new platform will appeal to all people, regardless of their golf skills, and promises to be a fun and engaging event.   

 

Peter has been a member of the Santa Cruz Sunrise Rotary since 2011.   He's been very active in the annual Bike Ride and the Firecracker 10K.   Peter has been married to his wife, Kimberly, for 34 years and they have two children:   Alexy (26) and Adam (23).

"This administration is going to be cussed and discussed for years to come."  Just kidding...THIS President Truman's administration will be a beacon of light and good work in the community.  We look forward to an exciting and productive year under President Peter Truman's guidance.
