Club Happenings

Club Holiday Party - Dec 12
I showed a little late but I do think that the party was sold out (or almost sold out) - thats the good news. People showed at 5:30pm, mingled and had apps (the type you eat, not the type you put on your phone). Dinner was served around 6:30pm and dancing started around 7:30pm. The location at the DeLaveaga club house worked well! Food was pretty good. Enough members brought wine and there was plenty of bevs to go around. The social committee deserves a big round of applause for all their work!

That all said, my personal view (hey, its called the power of the pen) is that we probably need to do something different next year. It was sad to see that the music started at 7:30 and the place started to empty out. By 8pm, we were down to only about a dozen people. We are the party club, no? Did I miss a memo and we have now changed into something else? I mean, yes, it was a school / work day but really? Note - the party was supposed to be from 5:30-9:00pm.

Oh, and have to mention this as well - the Satellite Club, you know, the young partiers and all.... ummm.... did I miss you all? Sigh....

In any case, it was a good time for the few hours when people were there (and even when they had left; a few of the people who stayed did cut up the dance floor for quite a while....)

Community Service: Adopt a Family & Salvation Army
I believe we provided for the family that we adopted. Sorry, have no update here. I also believe the bell ringing for the Salvation Army went well.... It is the time of year to believe...

Annual Warm Coat Drive
Janet Russell finished her fifth and final annual warm coat drive at the holiday party. I believe she said that she reached her goal of 100 coats.

Rod Caborn GoFundMe - Repeating this -
As many know, Rod Caborn, one of our club leaders and a Past President, received a devastating diagnosis of ALS this past summer. During his 20+ years as a Rotarian, Rod has unleashed his passion for making the world a better place in so many ways, by volunteering his unequaled skills as an emcee and fundraiser, creating and leading Rotary events and supercharging them to raise hundreds of thousands of dollars for charitable causes in our local community and for Rotary projects around the world.
Now, Rod needs our help. We are raising funds to help him with the tremendous expense associated with navigating ALS. Please give if you can at the GoFund Me page set up to collect funds to help defray some of the huge impending expenses associated with providing mobility support for Rod.
UPDATE - As of this morning, Dec 17, $39850 had been raised out of the $155k goal.
General Questions / Info to Share
Going to keep this area to put out general questions for club members or to share information. At this time, we don't have a way to get these out to the club and meetings are not really set up for these.

Question from me: A non-profit I am part of is looking for a new insurance broker. We are insured through NIAC. Anyone with a recommendation, please email or text me (me = sanjay).
