Charles will discuss Santa Cruz Shakespeare's exciting 2026 season and perform some pieces from the plays, which include: Vincent, Much Ado About Nothing, Macbeth, Fences, Private Lives, The Last Five Years, and A Christmas Carol.
Jun 4: No Speaker; Fellowship
We are, yet again, at the mercy of President Dave
Jun 11: Fred Keely, State of the City of Santa Cruz
Fred Keely, our outgoing mayor, will reflect on his past four years as the first directly elected mayor and what he sees for the City looking forward.
May 14: Loren Kinczel, UC Observatories, spoke about Giant Lasers, Exploding Stars, and Alien Planets, a lively journey through the 150-year legacy of Lick Observatory on Mount Hamilton. We also had Rebecca Jackson-Picht, AD and Founder of Music in May
(Editor's note - the talk by Loren Kinczel was pretty fascinating)
Our Rotarian of the Month for May is Randy Uang, recognized for his exemplary service and for being the liaison and or some spiritual term that President Dave could not figure out. Thank you, Randy. We appreciate you.
(Also, 250 years running or 250 years community in Santa Cruz? umm....)

This week: Set up your calendar to show events on the Sunrise Rotary Calendar
Did you know that you could set up your Google, Outlook or iPhone calendar to automatically show events scheduled on the Sunrise Rotary calendar? It's easy! Jon Winston prepared a handy guide... just follow the easy steps!
Going forward, we encourage including fundraisers and events for nonprofits we are affiliated with on the calendar (prefaced with "FYI") to help coordination with community service and social scheduling but also so that everyone knows about those events. And, when you see "FYI" you will know that they are not club sponsored.
You can access the calendar on the club website, click on Calendar on the menu.
Contact Sigfrid Garman to put events on the calendar.
