Second Harvest Food Bank - Brent Dunton is no stranger to handing out checks this year. He and President Jerry Souza, presented Erica Padilla-Chavez, CEO of the food bank, a check for $10,000from monies raised by the bike ride. Erica then shared some impressive figures detailing the scale of Second Harvest Food Bank's efforts and range of their food distribution efforts. They serve approximately a third of the population in this county.

Janet Russell, on her own, has started her own Warm Coat Drive for homeless families in Santa Cruz County. If you'd like to donate a coat or vest, contact Janet and she'll pick it up or you can drop it off at her office on 41st Avenue.
Polar Plunge - On February 25, a team from the Club will be participating in the Northern California Special Olympics Fundraiser, the Polar Plunge. More information to follow.
Mary Alsip, Joe Ferrante and his wife, and Cathy Bonino attended a Rotary meeting of the Club Rotario Vallarta Sur and presented a check for $500 from our Club to support the Volcanes sewing school which is run by an American named Arthur Fumerton. The sewing school allows women who live in extreme poverty to learn how to sew and to earn money by sewing uniforms for the local hotels, and also by sewing tourist items, such as purses, shawls, and table cloths. The income they generate from sewing allows their children to stay in the grade school, which is adjacent to the sewing school.
Matching Donations! Tony Nethercutt is matching donations to Digital Nest through the end of the year. If you can, please find just a little bit more in the piggy-bank to give to this worthy group.
And last but not least, Happy Hanukkah to all our members that observe this holiday. Hanukkah started this evening, December 18th, at sunset.
Thursday December 22 is our annual Holiday Family Rotary Meeting - not business, it's social. So, join us at The Grille at DeLaveaga Golf Course, 401 Upper Park Rd., Santa Cruz-Map. Doors open at 7am and the meeting starts at 7:15. Or you can join us on Zoom!

December 29 Warriors Pajama Night. Pajama Night – The Sea Dubs celebrate Pajama Night. Fans and front office team members will be encouraged to wear their PJ’s to the game and to bring a new pair to donate to the non-profit, Project Pajamas. The first 1,500 fans in attendance at the game will receive a Santa Cruz Warriors Night Light.
January 7 River Health / Restoration Day with Coastal Watershed Council. There's room for more volunteers. Contact Tiffany Wise-West.
January 12 District Governor Savita Vaidhyanathan will join our meeting to be followed by an off-cycle Board meeting.
