Jun 20:Jeff Gaffney and Terry Corwin
Jeff Gaffney is the Parks Director for Santa Cruz County Parks and Terry Corwin is the Chair, County Park Friends. They will be talking to us about... yes, you guessed it, the state of Santa Cruz County Parks, what is happening there, improvements on the way, strategic plan update and more.
Jun 27:Penni B's last meeting and Cabrillo Stage
The Jun 27 meeting will be the last one run by Penni Bengtson as president of our amazing club and she will do a wrap up of the year that was (I'm guessing there will be a slide show and who else knows what else). We will also have Cabrillo Stage talk to us about their upcoming season
Jul 4:Founding Fathers & Firecrackers
The founding fathers will present bbq, fun, celebration and more. OK, they won't... they were pre-booked. And, before someone gets confused, folks, there is no meeting that day. But, never fear, firecracker is here. 4th of July is when our club conducts the Santa Cruz Firecracker race. More volunteers are needed, Penni sent out a recent message.
Charles Pasternak, Artistic Director of Shakespeare Santa Cruz, talked to us about all the wonderful things they are doing there. I do think he inspired a few folks to do a Rotary night at the theatre - more info coming. His opening monologue was amazing... if you missed it, I suggest you watch the video.

Steve Bennett, President of the Freedom Rotary Club &
Director of Operations, Advertising and Community Partnerships, Santa Cruz Sentinel gave us an update on what is happening with the Santa Cruz Sentinel. Lots of people are signing up for the online version, even as the print version is slowing declining. Good to see that the Sentinel is here to stay for the foreseeable future
Dave Campbell is our Rotarian Of The Month for June.

Lisa is inviting our community to come and learn what to do with all their summer snapshots! So many memories are waiting to be captured with booked vacations and time with family and friends. Satellite Club News
The Satellite club's last meeting was at Beer 30 where Sara did her professional bio discussing her journey from studying nursing and psychology to becoming a CSM at Weka. Next club meeting will be on 6/25 at Sante Adairius Rustic Ales in Capitola at 6:30pm.

Firecracker: Jul 4
Dieter sent me a flyer, with a QR code, which I cannot put in this newsletter. Sigh. But, never fear, the link for signups is here. Firecracker is on Jul 4th. The website does say that "Come Join US - We're Live this Year!" I am so glad we are not dead this year :-). In any case, alive or not, please do sign up. I also think that the firecracker committee still needs more volunteers so please contact them if you can help out.
Pedal the Pacific - Jul 9 and 10

Pedal the Pacific is back again this year with 7 riders. On July 9, club members will meet them, again, at Wilder and accompany them back to Corralitos, essentially going cross county to parallel their going cross country to raise funds and awareness about Human Trafficking. The plan is to park in El Vaquero parking lot at the 5 mile house in Corralitos and ride bikes 21 miles to Wilder to meet the Pedal the Pacific riders. At that point everyone will gather and turn around and meet again for lunch provided by Togos at Cycle sport where Jim Cummings has set up bike tuneups for the girls bikes, then ride back to El Vaquero, and John Martinelli will ride with them back to his house. On July 10, the Martinellis are throwing a fundraising party to benefit Pedal the Pacific. Local non profits, including Rising Worldwide, will have traffic survivors speak. This event will start at 5:30 and conclude around 8:30 pm. This will be a party and dinner not to miss. Signup for dinner and / or simply to donate at this link.
Important note about this event: Brent and Sheila Dunton are going to be out of town, but they are confident that the club will step up and welcome the girls into our county appropriately! So, lets party, people.

I've been told that I need to let go asking people to provide content and to submit stuff - people are busy. Was told that it’s just nice to know who the speakers are, and some of the big stuff coming up.
Personally, I think that would make for a boring newsletter but... if that is what people want, then that is what we should publish, right?
If anyone has thoughts, let me know. Else, I'll work on making this newsletter about just the basics... (I think that would be sad but hey, people are busy...)
