News

Last Week Today

  • Congratulations Randall Leonard, this month's Rotarian of the Month.
  • President Jerry's fun fact:
"Studies show volunteering actually benefits the volunteers. Volunteering reduces stress while increasing feelings of joy and gratitude, which in turn improve our mood, sense of optimism, and the immune system." Get involved, do some good for your community and something good for yourself too!
  • And our Club's great leadership continues.  John Flanikin announced that following Penni Bengtson's presidency, Ari Symons will take the reigns and continue to lead our incredible club as president.
  • Kalyne Foster Renda, Co-Executive Director of Monarch Services, and Dr. Faris Sabbah, Superintendent Santa Cruz County Office of Education, shared the Mental Health Student Leadership Project - an effort to tap into the leadership that our youth have, create opportunities for wellness, support students to be able to help each other, and guide adults in the work that they're doing to support student mental health. If you weren't at the meeting, please take a little of your time to watch this important presentation. The presentation starts at 24:45 of the video.
  • The Bike Ride! In just one month and seven days, the 25th Anniversary ride will take place. You can find all the information you need at the ride website here, including links to ride maps for all three days.
  • A Moment to Share is replacing the beloved, but dated, Detective Report. Our objective is to build fellowship, celebrate the diversity in our club, and raise the necessary funds to support sharing our club with guests and visitors.
Going forward, the Moment to Share will be an opportunity to share some news, share something about yourself or an interest or even an activity such as a trivia game or short event. "Fines" will no longer be collected and requested at meetings. We will look for voluntary donations, activity fees, fundraising, etc. to support covering the expenses of bringing guests, students & prospective members to our meetings.
