MAIN: Cabrillo College Apprenticeship Programs
We will first hear a short update from one of our grant recipients - Monarch Services. Then Judy Russell and Terri Oropeza will provide an overview of Cabrillo College’s apprenticeship programs, which are designed to co-create a strong local workforce across key fields like Computer Information Systems, Healthcare, and Education. They will discuss how local employers can partner with Cabrillo to recruit, train, and up-skill homegrown talent by integrating classroom instruction with structured on-the-job training. They will also highlight how these debt-free career pathways reduce turnover for businesses while empowering community members and building a resilient local economy.

SHORT Program: Brief update from a past beneficiary: Food What?!
MAIN Program: Most Santa Cruz locals think they know Grey Bears, the venerable nonprofit founded 53 years ago by a UCSC graduate and her boyfriend with the spark of an idea to put unharvested produce to use nourishing neighborhood seniors. Get ready to have your minds blown and your hearts inspired by the big impact this homespun organization makes on improving food security and other health determinants among Santa Cruz County’s most vulnerable populations, including even bigger plans for the future.
Our Rotarians of the Month for August are the amazing core firecracker team of Deb Dutra, Dina Blair and Eileen Beaudry. There were so many who made the firecracker a success - this team went above and beyond and pulled it all together. Ladies - thank you so much!
