Two students participated in this year's speech contest and both offered compelling perspectives. Students were asked to speak on the theme Imagine Rotary and focus on at least one principle of the Four Way Test.
Natalie Kamalani, a Senior from Soquel High School who plays vollyball and does art and has just been accepted to Northeastern University. Natalie spoke on the importance of community.
Aiden Jordan, a Junior at Soquel High School with aspirations to study genetic engineering and what makes him happiest is Punk Rock Music. Jordan proposed that Rotary's future included addressing the homeless crisis.

Community Service
URGENT: Help Evacuated Pajaro Residents. With several assistance efforts planned, the first request to our club is to help the Homeless Garden Project to collect and provide needed supplies for Pajaro Valley families who evacuated from their homes due to the floods.
Specific items needed this week can either be brought to this Thursday's meeting on 3/23 for Tiffany to collect and deliver to HGP or delivered directly to HGP's Farm between 10 and 2 pm at the intersection of Delaware Ave and Shaffer Rd in Santa Cruz.
Needed NEW items include: grocery gift cards to local and chain stores (most desired), towels, blankets; sweatshirts, socks and underwear for all ages and sizes; diapers and diaper cream, baby soap, toothbrushes and toothpaste, new or lightly used playpens and portable cribs, gallons of water. online or at meeting this week.
Sat. 4/15: Second Harvest Food Bank Food Distribution and Tour with Interactor Club Members. 8 am - 12 pm. This volunteer opportunity has the maximum number of participants signed up already!
