Once a month we honor the Student of the Month from Delta High School but we’ve never had a full presentation about the school itself. Principal Jen Ra’anan filled us in on how Delta serves a wide range of students, both those who need extra academic support and those who want to accelerate their learning with more challenging curriculum.

Between the Sunrise and Cupertino Clubs we have 27 spots taken in the public charter and 10 or so remain. This is your chance to experience a wonderful sunset sail on the beautiful Monterey Bay for 4:30-6;30. The Nexties Earth & Sea Awards event will be held at the Seymour Center on October 3. From grassroots advocates to groundbreaking innovators, this new awards event will celebrate those who are protecting our oceans, coasts, and planet. Our very own Tiffany Wise-West will receive a lifetime achievement award and Hazel Campbell (daughter of Elliot Campbell and granddaughter of Dave Campbell) will receive a Rising Star award!
Lifetime Achievement, “The Farr Star Award” — For decades of leadership and vision in sustainability and environmental stewardship, awarded to Tiffany Wise-West – Her work on energy, carbon neutrality, climate action planning, living shorelines, coastal armoring, public health and disaster preparedness have made a lasting impact on science and solutions in our community.

September is designated as Prostate Cancer Awareness Month.

About 22 years ago during the course of an annual check up my PSA showed a marked increase and I was referred to an urologist for a consult and another PSA a couple of months later that was also elevated. A biopsy was scheduled and prostate cancer was confirmed and surgery scheduled. This was an aggressive form of cancer without any family history or symptoms. How could this happen to me? The moral of the story, get regular PSA tests-you don’t have to study for them just stick your arm out. I know there are other prostate cancer survivors in the Club that are willing to talk about their experience if you might have any questions.

This fantastic event will feature an array of local wines, beer, cider, and mouthwatering delights from three of food trucks. As you wander through the enchanting gardens of Alladin Nursery, get ready to groove to the incredible live sounds of Alex Lucero.
