Todays Meeting:

Today we heard from two of our Rotarians.  First we heard from Jim Flauto.  Jim just celebrated his 50th year as an insurance claims adjuster.  He has worked with many companies and his specialty is heavy equipment.  He started out working at a mechanics in high school, attended YSU and got into adjusting shortly thereafter.  He has been married to Kay, a speech therapist for Leonard Kirtz, for 23 years and they have 8 grandkids between them. 

 

We also heard from Roy Passerelli.  Roy is a volunteer for Ohio Business Week which is a one week program for high school students held in the summer.  This year, Ohio Business Week will be held at OU from July 16-22.  It is a one week program for high school sophomores and juniors where they split into small groups, come up with a product, come up with a business, financial and marketing plan, 36 month accounting and present the product at the end of the week.  This year they should have 150 students.  If you know of any high school students who would be interested or would like to consider a donation to this non profit please visit ohiobusinessweek.org and you can view a video on the program at YouTube by searching Ohio Business Week.

 

District Conference:

The district conference was a big success.  Congratulations to Sig and Larry for a great event and also to all our Poland Rotarians.  Poland Rotary won the district service award (photo above).  Dan Dull shared some information on the Night at the Races, David Moliturno was part of a new member panel and Mary Ann Carano was part of committee for an auction/raffle that raised $1400.00.

 

April 20th- There is an event hosted by Rotary for Young Professionals.  There will be a portion of the program about what each rotary club does for service so if you have anything to add please email Tim Crowe.

 

May 3rd- Recipients breakfast at the Poland Library at 9:00am.  Please RSVP to Mary Ann before April 26th.
