Scott Martin is a lifelong Lancaster County resident with deep roots in the community. He was elected to his first term representing the 13th Senatorial District in November 2016.
In the Senate, 12 of Scott’s bills have made it to the Governor’s Desk, with 10 being signed into law in his first two and a half years.
Scott currently serves as Chair of the Senate Local Government Committee, Appropriations, Environmental Resources and Energy, Health and Human Services, Judiciary and Urban Affairs and Housing Committees. In addition, Scott serves on the PA System of Higher Education Board of Governors, Chesapeake Bay Commission, PA Athletic Oversight Committee, Local Government Commission, Special Education Funding Commission, State Planning Board and Joint Legislative Air and Water Pollution Control and Conservation Committee.
Prior to his election to the state Senate, Scott served as a Lancaster County Commissioner and helped to clean up what had become a dysfunctional and ineffective government. As Commissioner, Scott never voted for a tax increase, downsized government by cutting duplicative agencies and departments, reduced debt by $40 million, and lowered costs for taxpayers through privatization and public employee benefit reform.
He led many statewide reform efforts through the County Commissioners Association of Pennsylvania and was elected Chair of the Republican Caucus of County Commissioners for 8 ears. Before entering public service, Scott was successful in the private sector as a licensed Realtor and local landlord. In addition, for 13 years, he worked in the Juvenile Justice system, including serving as Director of the Lancaster County Youth Intervention Center.
Running the county’s juvenile detention and emergency shelter-care facilities, he oversaw the effective operation of a $5.5 million budget and 150 employee organization. Scott was also the elected Vice President of the Juvenile Detention Centers Association of Pennsylvania and served on the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime & Delinquency’s Detention Steering Committee.
Scott served on the Board of Directors of the Dr. Gene A. Carpenter Football Foundation, volunteers as a youth sports coach in wrestling and football, and gave his time and effort to groups like the United Way of Lancaster County and the Pennsylvania Dutch Convention & Visitors Bureau.
Scott is a graduate of Lancaster Catholic High School where he was a PIAA & National Heavyweight wrestling champion, and Millersville University, where he graduated with a degree in Sociology/Criminal Justice and became a three-time 1st Team PSAC Defensive Tackle and two-time All-American. After his college career, Scott was a free agent camp invitee of the New York Giants in the NFL and had three different stints in the Arena Football league. Scott has been inducted into the Lancaster Catholic Athletic Hall of Honor, the Millersville University Athletic Hall of Fame, the Lancaster-Lebanon League Wrestling Hall of Fame, the District III Wrestling Hall of Fame, the Lancaster County Sports Hall of Fame and the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame, Susquehanna Valley Chapter. Recently, in recognition of the 150th anniversary of college football, Scott was named one of the 150 greatest players/contributors in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference history, one of ten Millersville Marauders to earn that honor.
Scott and his wife Amber are the proud parents of four children, Alexia, Hayden, Alivia and Gavin.

RCL Ski Trip
Bill Patrick announced that the Annual RCL Ski Trip, originally scheduled for Thursday, February 6th is being rescheduled to February 13th due to concerns over the wet/rainy/icy weather forecast. 42 people have signed up and there is room for more.
RCL Community Service Award
Chuck Blumenstock urged members to submit nominations for the RCL Community Service Award. The committee often receives nominations for students, but adults are also eligible so please think of candidates you might like to nominate. Nominations are due by April 1st. Forms will be available at meetings and will be added to the club website.
Rotary Rendezvous
Tom Baum reported that the next Rotary Rendezvous is Wednesday, February 12th (rather than February 5) with presenter Henry Yeager to discuss the organization 'Constance' which is a "checking-in" with aging parents and reporting to the family how these folks are doing type of service.
Board Elections
The Board of Directors Election is Wednesday, February 19th.
One open Board position needs to be filled. The candidates are Jennifer DeWalt and Clint Krushinsky.
Jennifer DeWalt
Jennifer or Jenn DeWalt is part of the Business Development Team at Murray, the region's largest independent insurance broker. Her role in the company is to develop new business prospects for the sales team.
Jenn earned her Associate's Degree in Liberal Arts from Potomac State College of West Virginia University in 1994. After graduating, she married Chris Shoemaker and they raised three sons - the oldest is Jenn's biological son, and the two younger boys are biological brothers they adopted from foster care.
After the boys were grown, Jenn went back to school to earn her Bachelor's Degree. In 2018, she graduated from Millersville with a degree in International Studies and minors in both Government and French.
In her spare time, Jenn and Chris enjoy their role as "Grammys" to their three adorable granddaughters. Jenn loves spending time in the outdoors camping, hiking, boating, and fishing with her wife and their miniature goldendoodle puppy. She also enjoys traveling, trying new foods and restaurants, and learning about different cultures.
Jenn is a huge WVU football and Duke basketball college fan, as well as a proud Philadelphia fan for all professional sports. She also finds time to volunteer at Swan4Kids, which offers music therapy and mentoring to children of incarcerated parents.
Jenn's experience with the Rotary Club of Lancaster started through her father, Ken DeWalt's, membership in the 80s and 90s. This led to her becoming a Rotary International Youth Exchange Student to Liege, Belgium in 1990, with the Lancaster club as her sponsor. She's been a member of this club since 2018, and enjoys serving on the committees she's been a part of most actively the Youth Exchange Committee and the Mentoring Team for the School District of Lancaster.
Jenn is eager to serve and work to help the club continue to grow and thrive through a new generation of Rotarians.
Clint Krushinsky
Clint Krushinsky is the business development specialist for Rodgers & Associates. Previously Clint was VP of Operations for a local wholesaler of millwork products, where he worked for 13 years. Clint joined Rotary in December of 2014, and has been an active member, serving as co-chair for the membership and SDOL committees. For the past two years he has managed the club's involvement in the Power Packs Project.
Clint serves as a deacon at Faith Bible Fellowship Church and on their finance committee. A lifetime resident of Lancaster County, he grew up in Lancaster City and currently resides in Manheim Township with his wife and two children. He roots for his kids and all Pittsburgh teams. Clint enjoys playing guitar, sports and being active. His favorite family vacation spot is Chincoteague, VA.

Lisa Groff celebrated her Dad’s 90th birthday, Bob Groff, with PP President Wally Otto present telling stories, jokes, yarns and anecdotes. Wally stated all the stories were true. Bob Minney told me Wally would never make-up a story unless it was true.
Jen DeWalt is heading to Belgium to visit her host family who she met during a Rotary Exchange 30 years ago! A testament to the strength of Rotary!
Speaking of PP Bob Minney, the State of Florida has made contact with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and said enough is enough. Please, we’ve had enough of your Minney, he’s outstayed his welcome.
