Joe Mieczkowski is a retired Federal Executive and a Licensed Battlefield Guide for the Gettysburg National Military Park. Joe is a Past President of both The Association of Licensed Battlefield Guides and The Gettysburg Civil War Roundtable. In addition, Joe is on the faculty of the Lincoln Leadership Institute in Gettysburg, PA .
He has three books to his credit including “After Gettysburg: Lee retreats and Meade pursues” and “Jefferson Davis and his Cabinet.” Joe has been a featured author on C-Span and writes for The Civil War News.
Joe is a resident of Fairfield, PA, where he lives with his wife, Chris.

Rotary Summer Youth Experience
Rotary Club of Lancaster members Bill Boben, Chip Kirchner, Joan Boben, Tammie Lowry, Michelle Gibbons and John Herr met with the United Way regarding the Summer Initiatives program we support with $10,000 each year.
Introduction/Background
Chip Kirchner presented the background of the program describing how the City of Lancaster, the County and the United Way came together to address the community need of programs for youth in the summer in 2000. Each contributed $10,000 for a pool of $30,000. After a few years, the City and then the County pulled out of the pool. In 2007, United Way, led by Nelson Polite, approached the Rotary Club of Lancaster to partner with them because the club supports the city and the surrounding area. That partnership was born and the grant became the Rotary Summer Youth Experience.
