PP Althea thanked PP Tom Baum for his guidance and support throughout her term. She reviewed her year and remined the Club it was not what she did, but what you did. Highlights included:

…and most importantly, PP Althea learned that Rotarians “never say no”
PP Althea thanked Kathy Hainley with a bouquet of roses. She called out Facilitator PP Bob McClenathan and again, PP Tom Baum for their support and hard work. Lastly, Althea presented Prez Jeremy with a Rotary polo shirt. She was always a loss as what to wear to all the Rotary functions beyond the Club, so she made it really easy on Jeremy!
President Jeremy’s First Actions
Newly installed President Jeremy accepted the gavel and presented PP Althea with her gift from the Board. In pure Althea fashion, Jeremy reported that Althea did not want a gift. After some prodding and arm twisting, Althea relented and asked for a tree to be planted at the Farm & Home Center with a plaque commemorating her Rotary Year as President.
In his opening remarks, Prez Jeremy told the Club that he is honored to serve as President. He went on to state that if the Club “ain’t broke, don’t fix it,” but quickly stated that we have to adapt to change. Service Clubs across the nation share common problems and all are at a “fork in the road.”
Prez Jeremy went on to highlight his vision for the Club, including:
Growing our Club in a younger, more diverse manner
Continue the quality speakers
Support meaningful projects
Focus on the benefits of being a member – Networking, Fellowship & professional and personal growth through the Club
Use technology (website, social media) to expand our Rotary presence
Add an evening meeting for flexibility with attendance
Fellowship events
Jeremy then introduced all the DeBords in attendance, including his “fine young men,” his sons Adam & Austin.
President Jeremy concluded with a quote from President John F. Kennedy, “Conformity is the jailer of freedom and the enemy of growth”
D-E-S-P-E-R-A-T-E!! Rotary Youth Exchange - Looking for Host Families!
The Club is hosting a student for the 2019-20 school year; he is an outstanding 15-year-old young man from Mexico who will arrive in August and return home the following June.
This young man enjoys movies, video games, music, skateboarding, soccer, volleyball, tennis, Taekwondo, robotics and computers. He would also like to explore acting. He lives with his parents and older brother. He has studied English for 11 years and considers himself fairly fluent in English. He has no health concerns.
We MUST quickly find three host families in the Hempfield School District for this young man; each family will host for about three and a half months. Wings, Wheels & 4K Was A Massive Success!
Board Director and WW & 4K Chair Russ Harlan thanked all of those members, businesses, volunteers and the Committee for working hard and seeing this successful end to the Spring 2019 Fundraiser!

10 Planes flew in
300 Cars were on display
1 Fabulous weather day for the event

PP Downey Announces TOUCHDOWN!
PP Nick Downey announced that after a few nail-biting weeks, whereas the Club was “4th and 2 inside the 3-yard line, with less than 40 seconds to go…” The RCL made our goal for the Foundation Giving!
