And, appropriately timed for this season of hope and renewal, we'll preview our December 7 program featuring Manos House, the organization dedicated to offering new paths to young addicts.
Celebrate your Rotary commitment in-person this season at meetings filled with fellowship and excellent luncheon programs. It’s where we come together to share the spirit of service above self, and accomplish great things!

Manos House Drug And Alcohol Rehabilitation
Manos House was established in 1972, to help young men free themselves from substance use disorders that inhibit them from leading responsible, rewarding lifestyles.
In 1975, the program was incorporated as Drug and Alcohol Rehabilitation Services, Inc. A private, non-profit corporation, DARS, Inc. is governed by a board of directors comprised of volunteers from Lancaster and the surrounding community.
The corporation has three separately licensed programs that include Manos House, a 50-bed, self-contained, residential treatment facility; the Supervised Independent Living Program; and the Prospect Grove High School. All three programs are located at in Columbia, PA.
Many of our clients are also involved in the juvenile court system and/or have undergone disciplinary action at school. Referrals are made through probation departments, social service agencies, managed care agencies, and other treatment facilities by contacting the Treatment Director.
Drug and Alcohol Services, Inc. has a staff of counselors, educators, a psychologist, a chaplain, and mentors. A low client-to-staff ratio is maintained to ensure that clients receive the time and attention they deserve.
Joe Friel is a graduate of Millersville University. He is a certified alcohol and drug counselor. He has been with Drug and Alcohol Rehabilitation Services for 10 years. Currently he is the Program Development Director.
Bob McClenathan gave us a sense of the global impact of Rotary service. He was unable to attend the meeting because of illness, but provided the materials he planned to use about Rotary International Foundation and various ways our club participates. Past President Bob has helped guide and secure grants for our Club’s World Community Service projects for many years and currently chairs our District/World Committee efforts.
If you’re not fully familiar with these issues, the videos are worth watching. The first was a video on RI Foundation about Rotarians Coming Together to provide international service.
Second was a video on Uganda VTT 2017 when eight Rotary districts, from around the world, came together to form three teams to provide eye, dental & medical aid as well as training to the people in Uganda.
Third was a video on a District 7390 Rotary team that went to Kamuzu Central Hospital, Lilongwe, Malawi, to provide training in a range of medical fields to help expand service capabilities of the hospital.
Rotary Club of Lancaster Receives Honors at Foundation Banquet
After the program, Jamie Alton, presented to the Club with awards it received at the recent D7390 RI Foundation Banquet. First, we received a certificate for contributing over $1,500 to the End Polio Now campaign. Club News
Status of Venue and Caterer
The Farm & Home Center is in the process of selecting a preferred caterer. Also RCoL is negotiating for a flat fee for use of the Farm & Home Center. The results of these two activities will impact our choice of a caterer and venue.

Dues Invoices are out
The Dues Invoices included an increase to $101 quarterly, $202 semi-annually or $404 annually. They may be paid by credit card at meetings. Or they can be made payable and mailed to: Rotary Club of Lancaster; P.O. Box 1387, Lancaster, PA 17608. There are also options to pre-pay for lunch fees. They are for 13 weeks, 26 weeks, or 52 weeks at $16 per week. Any meeting paid and not attended will be donated to the Club. There will be no refunds for this service.

Announcements: Bringing Joy and Ring to Season!
Please Bring Secret Angel Gifts to Dec. 7th Meeting
Thanks to all Rotarians that selected one or more children for the Secret Angel Project with Reynolds Middle School. They provided us with 37 students who have an increased need this year. All children are in grades 6-8.
They recommend that we spend $50 per child. All gifts are to be unwrapped, in a gift bag. Be sure to include the note that Crystal gave us with the number of each student on the bag so that we can ensure it gets to the correct child.
Please bring all gifts with you to the 12/7 meeting so that we can get them to the school in time!

Salvation Army Bell Ringing - Fri. & Sat., Dec. 16th & 17th
Another opportunity to serve this holiday season is with our annual Bell Ringing for the Salvation Army.
We are signed up for both Friday, December 16th from 11 am to 3 pm and Saturday, December 17th from 10 am to 3 pm. Please add your preferred time in the sheet Crystal sent out.

Another Fellowship Opportunity: The Next Rotary Rendezvous is Dec. 14
Anyone who is interested in joining our committee, looking for fellowship, or simply a night out, please join us for Rotary Rendezvous on Wednesday, December 14th at Southern Market in Lancaster. Parking is available at the Steinman garage or folks can find side street parking. Trivia begins at 7pm.

Joy: Ed Hauck reported that Ali Husaini, a senior from F&M College has been awarded a Global Grant from the District 7390 scholarship committeee to attend Newcastle University in the UK for the 2023/24 year as a grad student.
