Thoughts Moving Forward
  • When will RCL meet at the Farm & Home Center for lunch at a table of eight (8)?
  • Or will we ever?
  • How many members will be lost due to business hardship or other related issues?
  • What are dues going to be moving forward?
  • Are District #7390 dues being adjusted?
  • Is this the end of RCL’s “traditional” Club model?  Will it be virtual?  Will we meet monthly?  Bi-monthly?
  • Will we ever sing again?
  • Will we ever hear jokes from Dave Heckel at the podium?
  • What about the Strawberry Round-up?
  • Will there be a Christmas Party?
  • What has been The Greater Ronks Rotary Club's response?
  • Any word on the Spring Fundraiser?
  • Will Prez Jeremy get an I-O-U from the Board for his gift?
There are many unknowns.  There are many challenges.  There will be new opportunities.  No one really knows.  Many say they know.  Many predict the future, but we will all find out as things move forward.

To quote the famous James Earl Jones speech in “Field of Dreams” with edits:

Rotary

“Members will come.  They'll come to Rotary for reasons they can't even fathom. They'll turn up at Rotary, not knowing for sure why they're doing it.

They'll arrive at our door as innocent as children, longing for the past.  "Of course, we won't mind if you look around," we’ll say. "It's only your volunteering we’re looking for."  They'll pass over their time without even thinking about it.  For it is time they have and the hunger to give.

And they'll walk into our meeting, and sit in shirt-sleeves and suits on a perfect afternoon.  They'll find they have reserved seats somewhere, where they sat before and once where they lunched together with friends.  And they'll watch the program, and it'll be as if they'd dipped themselves in magic waters.  The memories will be so thick, they'll have to brush them away from their faces.

Members will come.

The one constant through all the years has been Rotary.
America has rolled by like an army of steamrollers. It's been erased like a blackboard, rebuilt, and erased again. But Rotary has marked the time.

This organization, it’s members, it's a part of our past.  It reminds us of all that once was good, and it could be again.

Ohhhhhhhh, members will come.  Members will most definitely come.”

Supporting the Rotary Foundation Helps in the Fight to Manage the Covid 19 Pandemic
If you have not given a contribution to the Rotary Foundation yet this year, please consider making a contribution. We are 1/3 of the way toward meeting our annual goal of $30,000 and as in the past several years want to achieve our goal by June 30. Rotary Foundation has a new purpose for our Grant Programs; helping international organizations and Rotary Clubs with grants to fight the Covid 19 pandemic!
Now more than ever, we recognize the importance of effective vaccines to protect against disease. As scientists work to develop one to protect all of us from the new coronavirus, we recognize how far we have come this World Immunization Week. This 24-30 April, encourage everyone to immunize their children and themselves against preventable diseases.

The Rotary Foundation has a long history of funding disease prevention and treatment projects that focus on health issues that impact vulnerable communities, like our polio eradication efforts. Successes in these areas have helped us address other global health challenges, including the spread of the coronavirus. Stay tuned to the Transmitter for more about how Rotary is fighting Covid 19.

Jeffery Butch Birthday Missed
This editor apologizes for overlooking Jeff’s birthday on June 23rd.  Happy birthday Jeff!

Joy from Dave Foulk
We have such a wonderful neighborhood and now that we are all home, we have become very close.  I made whoopie pies for the neighborhood several weeks ago, the adults loved them more than the children.  We take turns with having social distancing happy hour.  One more happy note, my new neighbor who moved into Patti and Ted’s house, is a liquor salesman (isn’t that the luckiest thing in the world).  He always has good vodka.  In the afternoons, Fred and I sit outside and the neighbors drop by and we talk and it has become a perfect fellowship time for all of us.  It has slowed us all down a bit and we are happy about it.  Maybe, we were to have learned some lessons from this quarantine time…

Help Keep the Club Calendar Updated

All Rotarians – especially committee chairs – are encouraged to help keep our new Club Calendar full and updated with the great things that our Club is doing in the community.  Please submit any items you would like added to Kathy by e-mailing her at RotaryClubofLancaster@gmail.com.  Examples include the schedule of McCaskey Mentoring Sessions, Committee Meetings, Power Packs or Salvation Army Bell Ringing. If it’s happening, let’s get it on the Calendar for all to see!  Your help will keep us all updated with what’s going on within the Club AND will showcase our very active Club to the Lancaster Community and to prospective members.  The Club Calendar is available at www.LancasterRotary.org
