A Panel Discussion with an Architect, School Superintendent, and IU13 Safety & Security Chief
John Baker
John Baker, CPP, leads IU13’s safety and security initiatives. He has over 25 years of safety and security experience working with a broad range of clients from small businesses to government agencies. John is a Board-Certified Protection Professional (CPP). He also is a certified Crime Preventions Through Environmental Design (CPTED) specialist with expertise in the area of safety and security design of public space, through the Florida Attorney General’s Office. John combines his years of experience along with his home-grown sense of value and practicality to design innovative and affordable solutions to meet a school’s safety and security needs.
Mike Leichliter
Mike Leichliter was named Superintendent of Schools for the Penn Manor School District July 1, 2009. He joined the Penn Manor staff in August 1997 as an assistant principal at Penn Manor High School. He served as principal at Manor Middle School from 2000 until July 2006, when he assumed the position of Assistant Superintendent for Personnel and Planning. He was a social studies teacher for the York City School District from 1991-1997. Dr. Leichliter earned his Bachelor’s degree from Grove City College, a Masters in School Administration from Western Maryland College and his Ed.D. from Widener University. Dr. Leichliter and his wife, Mary Edith, have three children Noah, Maura and Sydney.
Larry Levato
Larry Levato, AIA joined the CRA-Architects in 2010, and is a Senior Project Manager focusing on educational design and management of architectural staff workload and operations. While providing oversight to all of the firm’s projects, Larry is leading the efforts on the addition/renovation to Penn Manor High School.

Rotary Refugee Center Committee
The Committee invites you to be a coach for our Club's Rotary Citizenship Program, which helps refugees and immigrants prepare to take the test to become a US citizen. Interestingly, a person must have lived m this country for five (5) years before she or he becomes a candidate to take this test. Each coaching session is one-on-one and lasts an hour. This is a partnership between IU13 Community Education, The Rotary Club of Lancaster and the Refugee Center & Community School at Reynolds.
Here's what you need to know:
Coach's training takes place in this room (Farm & Home Center) from 10:30 a.m. to noon on Wednesday, April 17th.
Coaches review flash cards of the 200 questions about the US Constitution and the like, some of which the candidate will be asked by a government official during the citizenship test .
Coaches also help the candidate practice his or her English for example, by asking the candidate to tell you about themselves
Coaching sessions occur with the refugees on six (6) consecutive Wednesdays:
April 24th, May 1st, 8th, 15th, 22nd and 29th.
Each coaching session runs from 6:30 to 7:30 pm. Each coach will do only one session a night.
The sessions will be held at the Lancaster Public Library on North Duke Street.
Seven Club members are needed for one-on-one coaching sessions each night, so over the six Wednesdays there are 42 one-on-one interview sessions that need coaches.
Rotary Refugee Center Committee members Kevin Allen and Jon Walker are the Project Leads. One of us will be there each night to help things run smoothly.
If you would like to sign up to be a coach or have any questions, one of the Committee Members will be standing in the back of this room and will have an information sheet you can take with you.

The next “Rendezvous” will be on February 27th at 5:pm at Stoner’s Grille.
Farmer’s Day March 6th
PP Tom “Wie Geht’s” Baum announced Joe Bender, a veterinarian & farmer, will speak on “Dairy Sustainability & Profitability” on March 6th. Guest Farmer lists will be at the registration table for members to sponsor a farmer for the meeting.
