Board Elections
The Board of Directors Election is Wednesday, February 19th.
One open Board position needs to be filled. The candidates are Jennifer DeWalt and Clint Krushinsky.
Clint Krushinsky
Clint Krushinsky is the business development specialist for Rodgers & Associates. Previously Clint was VP of Operations for a local wholesaler of millwork products, where he worked for 13 years. Clint joined Rotary in December of 2014, and has been an active member, serving as co-chair for the membership and SDOL committees. For the past two years he has managed the club's involvement in the Power Packs Project.
Clint serves as a deacon at Faith Bible Fellowship Church and on their finance committee. A lifetime resident of Lancaster County, he grew up in Lancaster City and currently resides in Manheim Township with his wife and two children. He roots for his kids and all Pittsburgh teams. Clint enjoys playing guitar, sports and being active. His favorite family vacation spot is Chincoteague, VA.
Jennifer DeWaltJennifer or Jenn DeWalt is part of the Business Development Team at Murray, the region's largest independent insurance broker. Her role in the company is to develop new business prospects for the sales team.
Jenn earned her Associate's Degree in Liberal Arts from Potomac State College of West Virginia University in 1994. After graduating, she married Chris Shoemaker and they raised three sons - the oldest is Jenn's biological son, and the two younger boys are biological brothers they adopted from foster care.
After the boys were grown, Jenn went back to school to earn her Bachelor's Degree. In 2018, she graduated from Millersville with a degree in International Studies and minors in both Government and French.
In her spare time, Jenn and Chris enjoy their role as "Grammys" to their three adorable granddaughters. Jenn loves spending time in the outdoors camping, hiking, boating, and fishing with her wife and their miniature golden doodle puppy. She also enjoys traveling, trying new foods and restaurants, and learning about different cultures.
Jenn is a huge WVU football and Duke Basketball college fan, as well as a proud Philadelphia fan for all professional sports. She also finds time to volunteer at Swan4Kids, which offers music therapy and mentoring to children of incarcerated parents.
Jenn's experience with the Rotary Club of Lancaster started through her father, Ken DeWalt's, membership in the 80s and 90s. This led to her becoming a Rotary International Youth Exchange Student to Liege, Belgium in 1990, with the Lancaster club as her sponsor. She's been a member of this club since 2018, and enjoys serving on the committees she's been a part of most actively the Youth Exchange Committee and the Mentoring Team for the School District of Lancaster.
Jenn is eager to serve and work to help the club continue to grow and thrive through a new generation of Rotarians.
RCL Community Service Award
Clint Krushinsky reminded members to submit nominations for the RCL Community Service Award. The committee often receives nominations for students, but adults are also eligible so please think of candidates you might like to nominate. Nominations are due by April 1st. Forms will be available at meetings and will be added to the club website.
Ski Trip KaputBill Boben reported that again the RCL Ski Trip has been cancelled due to weather (or lack of the type needed)
This editor suggests a western PA ski trip or a “bus trip-rolling-happy-hour” from Lancaster to Carlisle and back, non-stop then eat at American Bar & Grill (ABG) so that the Andy Rote Spirit Award can get awarded to that special Rotarian.
This editor knows, as did Andy Rote, it was about the bus ride, stories, tales, absorption of distilled, fermented liquids & the camaraderie. The skiing was secondary.
